yeeeeeah! woohoo is right, the funniest thing was when the commentator said "well i think that was the first call against south korea this whole tournament!" ;D I have to admit they played pretty well, but I definately think spain would have played better. Now all that's left is to see who will play Germany for the world cup. Go turkey Go!!!! now we won't have to hear the commentators go on and on about the 'golden goal' it always makes me hungry for some reason.

H'mmm....the Golden Goal makes you hungry??....that wouldn't be because you live next to a Golden Corral, would it?? YUK! ;-)
LOL, or is it those damned Golden Arches that brings a druel??...Whatever the case, I'm so freaking stuffed right now...I couldn't eat for at least a day or two. Pabs and myself were fortunate enough to polish off a few hefty plates of some of Texas' finest BBQ....shame you all couldn't be there to join us. :-)
Oh well....Hey dani, how's your supply of M&M's holding out? I'd figured after Sunday, that you'd be a little low...no?
Have a great week!
Later, RacerX

OK another thing that completely confuses me is all these soccer leagues in Europe. I swear you have 100 diffrent leagues, how they hell do you crown a champion? can someone help me here

hey racer! yup I talked to Pabs a few hours ago and he told me that you two dared to confront the Texas BBQ! ;D btw...whatever happened to your pond? As for the supply of M&Ms, as you know you can never have too many! send em over, but I'm getting picky in my old age, so make sure to include red ones and ONLY red ones! ok? topcontender, about those football leagues in europe. I know only about the English one. There are 4 divisions. 3rd,2nd,1st and the premiership. each year the top team from each division advances to the next division up and the bottom team goes down! I think this is the way it is for the other football leagues in europe. Each year they have this thing called the champions league (at least i think that's what it's called) where the top teams from the premierships in all the european leagues come together to fight for a championship and become the best team in europe. They have names like Manchester United, Byern Munich and real madrid! That's pretty much what I know of it, since i'm not super into football! hope this clarifys some things.

That helps a ton. I remember last year when i was in Monaco, Bayern muchen and I think real Madrid played. I kind of get the idea now so the Premier league is the top huh?

TC, In Football, at least in Europe- each country crown's its own champion- usually whoever wins that country's top league. In England its the Premiership (used to be Division 1 back when I was a kid)- in Germany its called the Bundesleague (sp?)- In France it is called the WeEatFrogsLegs League (OK- maybe not- maybe I'm just being an idiot now)... Dani is correct- the top 3 or 4 teams from each European countries compete in the European Championships. (countries with better leagues get more teams than countries with sucky leagues). The winner of the European Championship is the European Champion! Another intersting factoid about how European's handle sports as opposed to how it is handled in North America is the concept of relegation. Just like in America- there are multiple leagues of varying profesionalism. In England for example the best teams are in the Premiership- then there are below that Divisions One, Two, Three and the Nationwide Conference (local bad teams). But unlike in the US- being in the top league does not guarentee you always will be. The bottom two or three teams get relegated to the division below at the end of the year- and the top two or three teams get promoted to the division ABOVE each year... thus there is league mobility... Imagine if BBQ was held in the same type of competition... We wouldn't even be comparing Texas and Carolina BBQ because Texas would be way down in Division 10000 whilst Carolina would be in the Premiership!

Oh and to confuse things even more...
One country can crown multiple champions... Like in England- usually winning the Premiership League is the biggest acolade- BUT there is also another competition, the FA Cup- which is basically a knock-out competition to crown a winner. There is also a Worthington Cup- which is an FA Cup wannabe!

Oh, and let's not forget the National Cup each country has. In this one, basically all teams from the various leagues compete, until there is a final with the last two remaining. The winners of each National Cup then go on to compete in the Cup Winners Cup.
Throw in then the UEFA cup which sees the teams that finished around 4th (I don't know the exact details) competing against each other on a European scale.
And, last but not least, you have the European Cup, same as the World Cup but only for the European national teams. Also played every fourth year, with France being the current title holder.
Just a word of advice, don't bother getting interested, it is all really boring!!!!

TC...ROFLMAO...ping-pong. Wuff. OK Dani, get ready...they'll be arriving shortly!!! (With a description of the "Fake River" project to boot! ;-) Wyc, don't even think about it....I know when teams in theis country compete, the usually crown the Champion & call them World Champions....it's a little arrogant and all, but in this case it would fit: If BBQ were a league, Texas would be... ... WORLDCHAMPIONS!!!and little South Carolins would be just a runner-up....always a bride's maid, never a bride. (Hey, at least I didn't call Carolina BBQ "Track Fodder"....LOL! With all due respect (very little), RacerX From BBQ land....Texas! ;D

I beleive congradulations are in order for Brazil, even though I'm really depressed about the result. It's good to know that Ronaldo deserved his comeback even though he has a pretty messed up hair doo! What was really unjust was the first goal, I really feel for Oliver Kahn. He's been Germany's backbone and got hurt slightly in the hand and couldn't hold on to the shot The second goal was absolutely beautiful, but the first, I can't get over it, all I can say is I really hope he doesn't beat himself up for this cause he's been consistantly brilliant. Germany held posession for the majority of the time but they lacked an offence, it was so frustrating to see they just couldn't finish anything! Neuville was hillarious, he's so short compared to all the other players and he reminds me of one of those dogs that bites at peoples heels, he was just blatantly flinging himself at the Brazilians and getting calls in his favour for his troubles! Anyways I'm just glad it's raining right now, cause that mob of Brazilians won't be able to set off any fireworks! HA HA! LOL! ;D It was a fun cup, hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as me! Till 2006
