OK Place your bets who will make it into round 2 from each of the groups?
Pick 2 from each group... winner gets the most bets right!
Group A: France, Senegal, Uruguay, Denmark Group B: Spain, Slovenia, Paraguay, South Africa Group C: Brazil, Turkey, China, Costa Rica Group D: South Korea, Poland, USA, Portugal Group E: Germany, Saudi Arabia, Rep of Ireland, Cameroon Group F: Argentina, Nigeria, England, Sweden Group G: Italy, Ecuador, Croatia, Mexico Group H: Japan, Belgium, Russia, Tunisia

OK I'll go first...
Group A France is a definate... I'd go on a limb and say Senegal will take the 2nd qualifying spot. Group B Spain and Slovenia Group C Brazil Sure... Costa Rica or Turkey take spot 2?... I'll say Turkey!
Group D Portugal will dominate this group. Poland will come 2nd Group E Germany and Rep of Ireland Group F Definately the toughest group- any could go through- still Argentina has to be pick 1...
And England will be my # 2 pick (have to show some patriotism in my predictions) Group G Italy and Croatia... (Mexico hasn't been too hot for a # of years) Group H I'll go with Belgium- and Japan as a surprise #2

Group A France+Denmark
Group B Spain+Slovenia
Group C Brazil+Costa Rica
Group D Portugal+USA
Group E Germany+Cameroon
Group F Argentina+England
Group G Italy+Mexico
Group H Belgium+Russia
The surprise here is Cameroon, who look to be on song this season- they have some massive talent coming through. They will have an upset win over Ireland...Hopefully.
Also Croatia not getting through would be a big one, they have some real talent, but then again so do mexico- ittl be a close competition.

Not being a big football enthusiast (I was one of the guilty members getting football out of the weakest link thread), I'm not too interested in betting on these results.
One comment I have though is about Group F: Argentina, Nigeria, England, Sweden
Aarrrgh, like how to make it impossible for Sweden to continue!!! Thank you very much FIFA!

Like I said earlier in this thread, football is not my game.
That said, I just heard that France lost against Senegal in the first game.

Way to go Senegal!
Oh yeah, a team to watch by the way is Cameroon- they have a strong squad, and should do a whole lot better than predicted. If i was putting money on a team to go places, not win, but perform it would be with them.
GO CAMEROON!

I am cheering for the Holigans. trash the fields and set them a blaze that way we never have another world cup soccer tournament again.
THis is a very american opinionated statement trying to bash soccer

"I am cheering for the Holigans"- a very american opinionated statement? why yes it is, you even went so far to prove your point that you spelt 'hooligans' wrong. just joking around On another note, germany won 8-0, and Cameroon drew 1-1 with Ireland!- Crap! come on Cam! you can do better than that!

You grow up in Saudi Arabia, get into the national squad under a new 'wonder' coach, make the grade for the world cup, go to japan with great expectations, and the hopes of a country riding on your shoulders...
You get put up against germany, a country with a much larger pool of talent to pluck from, and immediatly have three goals scored against you. Thus disheartened, you run around the field chasing a confident team and only seeing around 20% of the posession yourself.
By the end of a loooong 90 minutes you have 8 goals scored against you. You are happy to get off the field.
