JWK- yesterday Rumsfeld, some General, and a military woman blasted the media when they described the "shock and awe" as spectacular. Rumsfled and the general immediately were quick to tell them that nothing in war is pretty and to not use those type of words to describe what was happening.
Maybe it is the media glorifying this, and making a big deal out of it.
Did we all see this guy go "Full Metal jacket" last night? moron rolled 3 grenades in a tent becuase he was not allowed to go fight. I wonder why.
Iraq has a few of our boys, they better not hurt them
Why are more people getting hurt from stupid reasons and not from enemy fire.
BTW- we are less than 100miles to baghdad

I've heard another version of that Full Metal Jacket incident. It appears that he is muslim. This will not be good for troop morale.
The americans may be making a mistake with this rapid advance on Bagdad. From what I've heard yesterday the 3rd Mech Infantry is spred over 150 miles. That is very bad. Somebody once said that when you want to strike your enemy you don't do it with your fingers spread, you do it wth the fist. Imagine Irakis counter attack, blow the bridge at Nasiriah and then what?
And they don't seem to get a hold of Um Quasar either...

I think they are containing the groups in the cities, and then letting the rest of the military march into Baghdad. It is tough fighting in a city, and these guys dress like normal joes, and play tricks all day long. So if you contain them they cant do anything, and you can take pop shots with a full theatre of fire.
we are less than 100mi to baghdad from over 24 hours ago. that means we can already see the place, and i bet the 2 republican guard groups will be engaged now.
As for that bridge we got ways to fix that. We got some cool bridge makers that can fix that problem

There is something that surprises me with the coalition forces, and it is not the first time either.
We are seeing these extremely precise bombings in Bagdad, bombs falling within a few hundred meters of hotels where the media is stading filming in what appears to be total safety. They hit the targets spot on which is good. Yet they have lost (?) two missiles in to Iran, and now another two in Turkey? What's up with that? I could understand if they miss by a few meters, even a few hundred meters, but shooting in to another country? Reminds me of what happened in Yugoslavia, when they "accidentally" bombed the Chinese embassy. Is this some way of intimidating the other countries? I'm not criticizing here, I just think it is very strange.
Also, I can understand these are difficult circumstances, as war always is. But the number of casualties they aer inflicting on themselves! There have been several helicopter accidents, but now also a missile shooting down an English plane. Are they using substances that sometimes mess up their judgement, along the lines of what was believed to be the cause for the plane taking out the Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan? Anybody hear anything?

Iraq has POW's... and Rumsfield has stated that they (Iraq) must abide by the rules of war(in reference of the treatment of their prisoners).
When did the USA abide by the rules of war when they PRE-EMPTIVELY attacked Iraq?
Was it not the USA and Israel that withdrew from the Geneva Convention?
And, Camp X-ray? Guantonemo Bay Cuba? where do they fit into this equation of rules of War.
Practice what you preach is what i say.

Anybody else noticed in the Iraqi information minister's speeches the use of emotive animal terminology? Calling the American advance a snake, in particular a boa. I know all the reasons this type of language is used, and the effect it is meant to bring, but it still seemed a little strange... Perhaps he feels that as a snake, they will be easier to defeat through the use of their swords

if i am a snake i want to be a black mamba.
Hen- the bombs go "dumb" every so often. So if a Tomahak shot from the red sea looses its guidance it could make a 1 degree wrong turn or no make a turn and end up in Turkey or Iran. Also those bombs that killed the canadiens were GPS or laser dropped so they would not of traveled to far just down to the ground. The cool thing is Saddam built his palaces on a peninsula. So if a bomb goes dumb it will hit the river
BTW- saddam is not making speaches refering to the POW's and other current events. Saddam made a remark today that the he was proud of the 51st division. Well Sorry, but they surrendered in the first 2 days. Sounds like he is dead or not able to act

I am actually feeling increasingly annoyed and frustrated by the amount of information/propaganda. Sky and the BBC seem to be fascinated with the increasing departure/landing of the B-52's caravan, which they always keep in a window as they report the Invasion or interview any senior army officer/polititian. The ITV senior reporter was killed by 'friendly' fire, two other members of the ITV crew are still unaccounted for. The Tornado fighter plane also being taken down by a Patriot was a major cock up signalling a communication breakdown detween the US/UK forces... But the report that the "Iraqi revolutionary forces are wearing civil clothes" is what majorly upsets me... might as well become the perfect excuse to flat down suburban areas and justify collateral damage... Watched coallition soldiers digging the common graves of the Iraqis they're killing, and I wonder how humane it is to leave broken families unawares of the fate of the disppeared... Read also that there are pics of coallition POWs being executed with close range shots by the Iraqis -a nasty pic made a tabloid's headlines... So bloody depressing!

Henrik,
The missiles that landed in Iran- didn't the Iranians report that they had made a mistake and that they were infact Iraqi missiles not coalition missiles?
I'm fairly sure I didn't dream up that report???

Could be Wycco, I have not read more about it.
It just seemed a bit strange, but I suppose we can use the now memorable words of JPM "Shit happens!"
