WOW...was that a series, or was that a series? It had almost EVERYTHING! Game by game it was a little strange, but when you look at it as a whole series (all 7 games) it was fantastic.
I was like CFF, since they (Ducks) knocked my Stars off, I had to pull for them. Shame. Oh well, NJ deserved it. They earned it!
As for the NJ folk booing the Con Smythe receipient...Oh well, they had a SMALL case. Martin Broduer was freaking SOLID with 3 shut-outs in the series. Didn't he have like 7 total shut-outs in the play-offs?
He has to be one of the most under rated goalies in the game. A few years ago it was Patrick Roy, then Eddie Belfour, then Roy again, and Curtis Joseph, and Osgood, and (actually anyone between the pipes for Detroit)-LOL, and Hasek...but never much anything about Broduer.
He was solid all year.
Oh well, no complaints. It was a great season & with Dallas not winning it all, it only makes me wish for next season to hurry up & start! ;-)
Later, RacerX

The Conn Smythe trophy is given to the MVP of the playoffs not just the finals, JSG easily deserved honour more than anyone else as he almost single handedly beat Detroit and Dallas to get the Ducks into the finals. I'm sure that nuance was lost to the good folks of NJ.
Game 7 was a little to trappy for my taste, NJ are the best at playing the trap and it worked for them. Every year the NHL says it will crack down on the clutching and grabbing and every year the end result is the same. Perhaps we do need bigger ice to open up the game.

Perhaps we do need bigger ice to open up the game. Now where have I seen hockey rinks like that?

Now where have I seen hockey rinks like that? Indeed, but europeans historically have had touble coping with the smaller ice of the NHL, the game is too tough for them. But Canadians have proven time and time again to have the skills to play on any ice surface and win. International ice gives a more open and quicker game, but a certain amount of toughness is given up in the process and that is a shame as checking is one of the best parts of the game. Tough comprimise, game 5 and 6 of the Cup finals were excellent, but most International hockey is excellent as well.

da Silva,
I agree entirely that the Canadians are much better at adapting to the European rinks than what the Europeans are in adapting to the North American ones. Since the fall of the Great CCCP, Canada has always been on top in the World Cup, and won several cups. Okay, they were up there even during the CCCP reign, only not winning the championship.....
However, I too feel the game is more interesting to watch on the larger European rinks. It always drives me crazy when a game is continually interupted.
Okay, it's maybe not a good comparison, but I far prefer to watch a game of rugby to a game of American football.

Traps suck to watch on TV, but i love to play them in games. Unfortuneatley traps are almost useless in intl play ,due to the rules and rink size.

1. Kariya Leaves the ducks, goes to Colorado 2. Teemu joins Kariya in Colorado 3. Detriot signs Dominic Hasek 4. Fedorov Leaves detroit and goes to Anaheim. OMG, am i in the twilight zone? My fav player leaves home to play with a team that will never win another playoff game ever again.

Don't worry about Cujo - he'll land somewhere. No way Detroit will hold onto two goalies with the sort of salaries Hasek & Cujo pull, so look for the bidding war to begin. I'd say Cujo (and agent) are in the driver's seat ....
