(AP) - Israel's parliament passed a measure Thursday that would force Palestinians who marry Israelis to live separate lives or move out of Israel. The government said the law was necessary to prevent terror attacks, but critics called it racist. The law, to be in effect for one year, would prevent Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip who marry Israeli Arabs from obtaining residency permits in Israel. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, just when it gets bad, it gets worse. You wanna talk about racist, this is just crazy!

Yup, and nobody has yet spoken about the wall they are building. To be honnest, Bush did. Twice in weeks. Last week Abu Mazen was in Wash. and he said the wall was a big obstacle to peace. This week, it was Sharon though, and Bush mentionned the wall helped Israeli security... Is it not funny that 50 years after the Shoa, Israel is slowly becoming a state of institutional racism and biggotery ? Apartheid is alive and well. S.

Apartheid is alive and well. Yep, a universal phenomenon, it seems. On a equally sad note, and with the apartheid thing still very fresh in our memories, this is a story which is often told here in SA: Once, outside a Church, Jesus came upon a forlorn looking black man sitting outside a Church one Sunday morning. Quite down in the dumps. Jesus sat down next to him. "What is the problem, brother?" asked Jesus. In a sad voice the chap answered: "Alas, they won't let me inside." Jesus thought about this for a moment and then responded: "I know the feeling. I am saddled with the same problem"

If they can't live together, you might have to do to drastic measures to stop the violence. Look at wall built in Cyprus, those turks and greeks hate each other, but that is the only way to stop the violence. I got some good video of that check point and it is nuts to see it live. However, the flip side is the fact the the turks and greeks that don't live on cyprus view it as a joke.
Like i say now and i will say again. I might be very right wing in my views, but sharone/ arafat are not the guys who should be negotiting this deal. both see to love the fight more than the idea of peace.

The idea of the wall just brings me an image of Warsaw during WW2.

Let's get this straight, Sharon this week called it a "fence". Henrik, you may be over reacting. Thanks for the note this week.

I think Sharon and I don't have the same definition of a fence then... Here are some pictures of Sharon's fence:

There does not seem to be any provision for a moat filled with crocodiles? Is this an oversight? It may come back to haunt them.
If youre going to do a job, do it right the first time!!

Perhaps if we think of it as a fence to keep all the Israeli's in rather than to keep the Palestinian's out it might not be a bad idea.

I suppose if they didnt have terrorists walking over the border loaded with explosives blowing themselves up inside a cafe or restaurant or wedding reception there wouldnt be much of a need for a wall.
But it has been happening, and up until recently it was a near daily event with sometimes more than one attack a day. I guess the decision was made when the attacks became too unbearable to simply live with.

as you can see from the url above, we have good news.
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah movement, announced Saturday it was ending its truce on anti-Israeli attacks after the arrest of 20 of its activists by Palestinian security forces.
"We have ordered the resumption everywhere of our attacks and in particular suicide operations," the group said in a statement.
So we'll be going back to bus bombings and cafe bombings, looks like the wall will be needed!

So who won, you approve of building a wall around Palestine? Do you honestly think that will stop terrorist bombings? Do you think all Palestinians are bomb-belt carrying terrorists who want nothing more than to blow themselves and some Israelis up?

No, I dont think all palestinians are terrorists, I dont see how I implied that at all. What I do know though is that there are plenty of terrorists who are willing and waiting for their turn to blow themselves up in a bus or wherever. Unfortunately, despite the best security in the world it is impossible to stop them, they are mad and determined. Will the wall totally stop them? extremely unlikely, but it will make it that much harder for them to carry out such attacks and it will therefore make the attacks less likely.
