ok, the Order of the Phoenix is out on saturday, and my son and I are getting quite desperate to have it now!
Hope its not just us! I was lucky enough to get a 1st edition of Goblet of Fire, and hope to do the same with this new one, although a 1st edition of Philosophers Stone is obviously way more valuable.
Some shops here are opening up at midnight on friday to sell it, but i have it on good authority that a rival store owns the rights to 50% of the whole of the 1st print run, so instead will buy it from there at 8am on sat.
We have an interview on tv tonight with JK Rowling, and she talks a bit about the horrible death of one of the main characters!!!!
However, buying it is one thing - prising it off my son is quite another! No way can I wait till he's gone 2 bed to start reading, so i thought maybe if I bribe him, I can get to read some of it during the day!

I've got my copy reserved also. Ruby and I had an interesting conversation some 2 months ago about Harry Potter. We were trying to figure out what's going to happen in the next book. At the end of Goblet of Fire there are just too many loose ends and I have been looking forward to this book for a long time since I have so many questions. So lemme see...I pick it up on saturday and it's about 800 pages long. I figure we can start debating it on....tuesday or wednesday?

I'll watch it when it comes on network TV ten years from now! (Actually I'll probably see it at the cinema when they make the film before then, Em is bound to drag me to see it! )

Wycco, you must read the books!!!! In fact, go out tomorrow and pick up a paperback copy of philosphers stone! Its way, WAY better than the film! ( Err, in my opinion only, my son liked the film - not enough to want the DVD tho, which is quite interesting! ) Honestly, the books are fab, its such a shame you haven't read any of them yet!

Right, I have just watched the JK Rowling interview, and I now have a few very tiny snippets of info - but before I share, is it ok with ppl if I do?
Nothing major, she refused point blank to give away any major events in the book, but I don't want to spoil things for anyone who wants to know nothing at all.
JK Rowling was great in the interview, she spoke very openly about her life, and the enormous impact her books have had on herself, never mind us lot!

Wyc DL the audio books off the web on Kazaa. They are really good to listen to.
BTW- an indy Osco drug sold copies of HP5, but when i got they they had yanked them off the shelves.
For those who know, who do you think "it" will happen to? my bets Dumbldore, or hagrid.

I honestly don't know TC...though I lean towards Hagrid.
Ruby has some good theories about Dumbledore actually.

LOl okie! its only little things, as she wants to keep the plot a secret.
a) The new defence against the dark arts teacher will be a woman.
b) Harry finds out a lot more about his past.
c) we find out a lot more about snape.
d) We also learn exactly why Voldemort went after Harry and his family.
e) The death of a key character had her in tears when she was writing it, so we are likely to find it upsetting! its a 'horrible, horrible' death.
f) Harry is angry in this book a lot of the time, teenage angst, plus the hand life has dealt him.
Thats it i think, nothing too spoilery!

Regarding Voldemort, Dumbledore was pleased that Voldemort used harry's blood, for some reason:
'When Harry told of Wormtail piercing his arm with the dagger, however, Sirius let out a vehement exclamation; and Dumbledore stood up so quickly that Harry started.'
'For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes.'
This makes me wonder if they are related in some way, Voldemort looked a lot like Harry when he was a boy.
In some way, it seems as though Voldemort's choice to use Harry's blood was a mistake on his part, and will actually help Harry and co to eventually defeat him.

LOL JK Rowling also said that she has read a lot of fansites, and she loves to watch them trying to work out the final end! She said nobody has got it yet, though two people came close, and she would be very miffed if we all worked it out before the last book, as she has laid a lot of red herrings!
