Proof, if it were needed, that Black Americans are more politically aware than their White counterparts. Over twice as many Black Americans as compared to White Americans distrust the Government: Over twice as many Black Americans as compared to White Americans were against the invasion of Iraq: Over twice as many Black Americans as compared to White Americans think 9 – 11 was an inside job: I have lost the web site where these stats are verified, but someone else can verify them if they wish. All I can say is, America needs more Black politicians.

America needs more black polititians: probably, yes, as it needs more women and more minorities.
But because, they are more aware ? Hahahaha...good one DB.
These are (in part) the same group of morons who, when R.King was aquited, burned down their OWN neighborhood, while Beverly Hills was 3 miles away!!
Right, and they get this awarness how? While reading "Foreign Affairs" in East side LA? Waking up at all time of the night because of the noise made by the ghetto choppers, and using this time to readd "Le monde" ?
-More blacks distrust their government: I hope so. Their governmnent use to think lynching was legal.
-Blacks were against the invasion of Iraq: you better beleive it: they make up 68% of the army.
-More Blacks think WTC was an inside job: yes, antisemitism is alive and very well in certain "afro-centered" milieux. from Farrakan to Public Enemy, the dislike (distrust?) of the Jews is historical....
PS More blacks probably also think Saddam and Ossama are buddies...
SG: Hope you're talking about Farrakan, because Jesse is not that bad...(granted, he is no King, but he is not that bad...)

What about hispanics? Hispanics are the largest minority in the US today. More votes = more power.

Right Pabs.
I think hispanics are more informed too.
DB,
Check this one out for size:
Over twice as many White gun owner living in Wacco, Texas, as compared to White Americans distrust the Government: (It's self explanatory)
Over twice as many white gun owner living in Wacco, Texas were against the invasion of Iraq: (The US should not be the world's police)
Over twice as many white gun owners living in Wacco, Texas, as compared to White Americans think 9 – 11 was an inside job: (Yea, they know what that can look like....)
All I can say is, America does not needs more white gun owners living in Wacco, Texas, for politicians. hehehehe....

Pabs; Indeed the Hispanics along with the poor, sick and unemployed need more representation. Srrh; You are lumping every Black American in with the LA rioters and the worst of the ghetto comunities. I would be a bit indignant if I were a hard working , honest Black American.

Errrr...talking about generalisation, who wrote "Proof, if it were needed, that Black Americans are more politically aware than their White counterparts." ? LA rioters and the worst of ghetto communities are ALSO part of the black community. And I was using them as (a very easy, yet not representative) exemple. I think the color of one skin is mute. I think more intelectuals need to be political. S....

like 95% of blacks vote Democrat. Now it is impossible for 1 party to have an entire ethnic group's agenda like the Dems. Blacks vote and have thier opinion becuase they are taught one way and never open thier mind to new ideas.
Seriously, with political figures like Jesse Jackson, and Rev Al Sharpton leading a ethnic group you know thier is a problem. Minorities need strong figures and not race baiters who hurt thier own people for thier own gain.
I read a poll conducted at my Uni once that asked simple questions of voters. The blacks (who voted) most of the time could not tell who the other candidates where or even thier positions.
Also ALL Political polls must be done with people who vote. IT doesn't matter what non voters think. This is rule number one in polling. DB were these people in this poll voters or people off the street.

Blacks, and indeed, the majority of minorities, vote democrat because democrats are FOR affirmative action and other laws that give jobs and money to minorities regardless of suitability.
Republicans are against affirmative action and other "pro-minority" racist laws...
If a black votes Democrat they're more likely to get that $50,000 per african-american slavery-settlement bill they want.
You can bet a Republican government won't pass that.
Thus- they vote Democrat- and if you're a minority thats the smart "SHORT TERM" thing to do.
*shuddering at the thought of what would happen to the economy if that bill passed*

IT doesn't matter what non voters think. More importantly; it doesn't matter what non-thinkers vote. ;D Srrh

My 2 cents To say that the black community "are more politically aware" is, quite frankly, an inaccuracy. I will spare you and not reiterate previous posts (well said, Srrh). A polititian is a polititian, regardless of skin color. An asshole is an asshole. Personally I would much rather vote for a decent human being who is concerned about issues rather than the color of his/her own skin.

I'm too lazy to type my reasoning here (maybe later), but IMO affirmative action is NOT racist. The fact is that for generations blacks around the world have been EXPLOITED. Now, in order to level the playing field it's necessary to have affirmative action (in SA we call it "favouring the previously disadvantaged").
BTW - is anyone on this forum actually black? Not that it makes any difference, but I was just wondering exactly how diverse SC is. Sure there are posters from around the world, but is everybody basically white, middle-class?
