Great Stage win by Jean Delatour considering he got knocked off his bike by a photographer earlier on his breakaway. He picks up the Yellow Jersey Viva La-France

Perhaps someone can tell me how the stage developed today as I couldn't finish watching. When I left my apartment, Delatour and some other dude had an 11 minute lead over the peloton and there where 90-odd kilometers left. At that point, I thought the peloton had started the chase after Delatour....
So what happened afterwards?
Raptor, Yeah Herrera was indeed fun to watch. The guy could climb hills all day long. And I also remember that stage you talk about. Back then, cycling was the most popular sport in Colombia, mainly due to Herrera and another fellow by the name of Fabio Parra (maybe you remember him as well). But by far, my favorite stage was the 84 Alpe D'Huez. That was back in the days of Bernard Hinault.

Incidentally, has it been renamed the "Liberty Tour" in the US?
Okay, I'll see myself out!

14:38 First Geslin, and then the peloton are held up by a group from the French actors' union protesting about government treatment.
WTF is going on there!!! You try this in the USA and you will get your ass kicked. Why people feel compelled to ruin someone else's life over thier problems is beyond me. I just hope the fans that were around these guys got ahold of them and gave them the ass whipping of a lifetime, and then handed the protestors to the police where they can have a few licks.
Man no matter how bad life if treating you, never take it out on someone else just to get some PR.
This reminds me of the 2 fans who ran onto the feild in the base ball game last year attacking the first base coach. Well they learned real fast that they were not welcomed on the feild and they recieved a beat down from both bench's clearing.
I admit i just read this one and i have not seen it on TV, but man this is a joke. and to seeit happen twice is a bigger joke.

TC,
If you've spent any significant amount of time in France, you'd know that France is the land of protests and strikes. I'm actually not suprised in the least, though I agree with you that this kind of thing should not be happening in a world class even like the TDF.

Indeed, this is normal behaviour in France.
It is certainly not the first time it happens in the Tour de France. There have been stages cancelled due to strikes/protesters in the past.
P.S. Jean Delatour is a team, not a rider!

yes I remeber Mr Parra and the 84 tour is a fading memory but snippets are still there. 85 and 86 were also brilliant PS: If you go to www.cyclingplus.co.uk/forumthere is a link to a Team CSC race broadcast. update every 5Km

Yeah they put Once by 30 sec Bianci/Ullrich down by 43 seconds and everyone else is back by over a minute. This is becoming a good start for Lance

Interesting development today! I really didn't expect a win by Virenque, although if I would have thought a bit more about it I should have. He lives in Geneva, and so much of his training is done just on the roads they were on today. Still, well done, only hope he is clean....
Lance is still well in the game, and I think we will see him take the Alpe d'Huez tomorrow.
Botero....ummmm..... well.....I suppose the tour is over for him this year.
Petacchi proves why I don't like sprinters.
Beloki, maybe, just maybe he can still do something. I think tomorrow will really be decisive.
Are there any others? I'm wondering what Moreau can do.
Oh, and as for the green jersey, go Australia!!!!

You're right!
Godd stuff from Virenque today. Though the ONL guys here in the States said that USPS made a tactical call not to chase too hard after him as this was only the first mountain stage. Also, don't forget about Jan Ulrich just yet.
Botero, what can I say....I'm very disappointed. But I'm not sure about the tour being over for him. Remember last year he lost almost half an hour in the climb to Mount Ventoux and he still ended up 4th. Incidentally, it was also Virenque who won that stage. Maybe we need to do something about Virenque...he's jinxing my boy.
Either way, the Tour just got interesting.
