Yes boys and girls, it is that time of year again when one of the greatest matches in College Football takes place. This weekend the Universities of Texas and Oklahoma will face each other at the Cotton Bowl in yet another episode of the Red River shootout and this season it promises to be one very exciting game.
No 2. Texas comes to the Red River shootout with a record of 5-0 (1-0 Big XII). The Longhorns, however, barely escaped an upset by the OSU Cowboys last saturday. The final score of 17-15 does not tell the whole story, but suffice it to say that as impressive as Texas has been this year, their offensive game left much to be desired. Texas, nontheless, is looking for redemption after losing the last two games against the Sooners. Will Chris Sims step up to the challenge and become the star quaterback we all want him to be?
No 3. Oklahoma has escaped two major upsets so far this season against the Universities of Alabama and Missouri. Some say they just have "champion's luck" Well, whatever it is, the Sooners will enter the Cotton Bowl with a record of 5-0 (1-0 Big XII). Nate Hybil has played very well so far this season and he is taking charge of the offense. But one can never forget OU's defense. After losing two key players to the NFL this year, many thought OU's defense was going to be weak, but boy were they ever wrong.
In short, this weekend's Red River shootout promises to be one of the best in recent years and should not be missed!!
Now for the good stuff. Earlier today a little challenge was issued. The prize: Texas BBQ (duh!) The wager: Rx mistakenly believes that OU will beat Texas. I, of course, am in touch with reality and know that Texas will crush OU. So who's gonna win? Rx's beloved Sooners, or my No. 2 Texas Longhorns? Will we have a replay of last year's game? Or will we see a new star be born in Chris Sims? Stay tuned for more on this....
So now I leave you, Mr. Rx, with a little song of ours...
"The Eyes of Texas"
The eyes of Texas are upon Rx all the live long day
The eyes of Texas are upon Rx, you cannot get away
Do not think you can escape them at night or early in the morn
The eyes of Texas are upon you 'till Gabriel blows his horn"
