From what I've read about the double header at Thruxton this weekend, it looks like it was a great pair of races, with some very interesting results...
Autosport carries race reports on both, Race 1 being here: www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=24239&s=11, with race 2 following here, www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=24241&s=11
After qualifying produced some surprises (apparently due to who did and who didn't get a tow down the straights), seeing last years Formula Renault Eurocup champion Eric Salignon (who has looked slow this year, and struggled to even touch the top 10 from race to race) take one of the poles, and Danny Watts take the other, with Fairuz Fauzy (formally known as Mohammed Fairuz, then they gave his brother a go...) being up at the front.
However, it all turned out nice for one of my favourites Robert Dahlgren, who won his first F3 race, despite only a month ago not having enough sponsorship to finish the season. I like Dahlgren from his FFord days, never gives up, can never write him off... You;d like him Wyc, he's a bit like Kiesa (only better ), such a nice bloke too - Henrik, you'll also like him, he's Swedish!
I was very happy also to see Jamie Green win the other race (especially now Mr Haug seems to like him very much). If my calculations (based on a few separate rumours) are correct, then I hope he will be joining Lewis Hamilton next season in the 'Mercedes Junior' F3 Euroseries team. And I hope the rumours come to fruition.
I'd like a look at the championship standings now, as neither Nelson Angelo nor van der Merwe had particularly good weekends, and apparenly van der Merwe had a bit of a strop when he got spun at the chicane.... Nelson Angelo was realtively (by his standards) off the pace this weekend, evidence again of his lack of testing at the thruxton circuit.
I've lost my train of thought for the moment, but I'll come back if I think of anything else. Suffice to say the races looked brilliant, and I can't wait to watch them on Saturday - hopefully will be enough to keep me awake through the Hungarian GP weekend...
