Brief history - the Pau Grand Prix is currently run for F3 cars (pre F1 world championship i think they had GP cars, and they had F3000 races there in the 90's - JPM won). For some reason they had two races this weekend - which surprised me a little - one on Sunday, one on Monday. Anyway, i'm copying and pasting - because I haven't seen either, btu I thought you guys might want to know. it's part of the F3 euroseries championship this year (merged version of German and French F3, after falling numbers), and previous seasons have seen many of the British and German championship regualrs joining the French championship for this one off race.
Not much sign of the British teams this year for some reason, but Jamie Green who races in the championship did the races as a one off for ASM (one of the French teams, who ran an extra car). His performance in the second race was impressive, as while it still classes as F3 - it's still his debut season in F3 as a whole, and they have different control tyres, which makes things difficult, he didn't know the circuit, and, as far as I;m aware, he's never done a street race before - actually that's a lie - he obliterated the field at Macau in the FAsia (or F2000 or something - some equivalent of FR which he was racing last year) at the end of last year - although that wasn't over surprising because the quality of the field wasn;t the best. But hey, enough of that!

And I'd like to add that I'm over the moon for iccle Fabio. He;s such a sweetie, but he gets so downhearted when things don't go so well, so when he gets the results he can fly

Race 1: Fourth win for Briscoe
Australian fights back to win incident packed race
Ryan Briscoe took his fourth F3 Euroseries win of the season at Pau today (Sunday), beating Olivier Pla in mixed conditions to take victory on the famous French track.
The race began in wet conditions, in which the Australian championship leader appeared to struggle against his rivals. However, Briscoe was able to build his speed up as the track began to dry, and the Prema Powerteam driver was able to win by a comfortable 7.1s.
"The race started in wet conditions and the other cars were faster than me," said Briscoe. "Then there was a Safety Car period and after it was green again I had good chances to attack. Furthermore the circuit was dry so it was easier for me in those conditions."
ASM driver Pla led in the early running, but struggled with his tyre pressure as the track began to dry and was powerless to stop Briscoe from passing. Third place went to Timo Glock, who impressively charged up from 16th on the grid.
Two of the top qualifiers came up empty after incidents in the race. Pole-sitter Nicolas Lapierre was a strong contender in the early laps until he was forced to retire. Fellow Frenchman Alexandre Premat spent much of the race in second place, but a collision with the charging Briscoe ended his day.
Race two is tomorrow.

Race 2: Carbone takes first win
Jamie Green takes podium on Euroseries guest drive
Fabio Carbone has taken his first victory in the F3 Euroseries, taking victory ahead of championship leader Ryan Briscoe in an incident-packed race held at the historic Pau circuit in France.
The Brazilian benefited from the misfortune that befell both Briscoe and Nico Rosberg, who both took turns to lead the race.
Australian Briscoe, who won the first race at the circuit yesterday (Sunday), led away from pole position until he clashed with second place runner Alexandre Premat. The incident dropped Briscoe down to third, although he managed to battle back to second at the end.
"The attack of Alexandra was a bit unexpected," said Briscoe. "He drove over my rear wheel and the car was handling very badly after that."
The incident handed the advantage to Nico Rosberg, who looked set for victory until his car retired five laps from the finish, allowing Carbone through to take the win.
Jamie Green claimed an excellent third position on a one-off run in the series. "I am very happy but there races were very difficult," said the British series front-runner. "This was my first time with the ASM team and it was also my first time at Pau. So it is great to be on the podium."
