Sen (or others), what do you know about German F3 driver Auinger?
He replaced the injured NutSacker in Austria this weekend- and although he finnished nowhere- that boy can overtake...
First F3000 race and he weaved up about 5 places (all through excellent overtaking moves)... slipped off the road on another attempt to overtake another car losing several spots- and then promptly got back on track and started overtaking again!
I think I saw Auinger overtake more people than I did the rest of the F3000 and F1 drivers combined in Austria this weekend.
Pretty impressive considering F3000 is even harder to overtake in then F1 since all the cars are so evenly matched!
I was mightily impressed!
Shame Auinger is only a replacement... would like to see stay!

Didn't Kiesa overtake loads? I dunno, but he qualified really low didn't he, and ended up in the top 6 or something... no one's mentioned him yet, and I do like him lots - now there IS a guy who can overtake - but if you've any info Wyc from what you've seen, please let me know... When will ITV start showing F3000 this season???
Anyway, Auinger: What do I know? Nothing!! Nothing at all!! Never seen him race, never even seen footage of him racing. The fact that, as far as I know, he never did that much in F3, never read much about him either! I would think Wycco, you know more about him than I do!!! Best description of him I can give is "That Austrian guy that's been in German F3 for years and years!!"... Did he drive for Bertram Schafer?
But, I can have a look, is he still racing EuroF3 this year? I will check and see. I figure he'll probably have a website all of his own, but if not there's always the red bull junior one, which is very good (many times in the past it has beent he first place with F3000 qualifying news!!)

Thanks for the links- I'll check them out... I was actually curious of what you've seen from his racing. Often the fastest guy doesn't finnish first if he doesn't have a good team- so the eye of someone like yourself with lots of motorsport viewing experience tells me more than most websites! I agree, Kiesa is awesome. Kiesa is my favorite driver in F3000- he is always entertaining to watch. Although- the TV didn't show much of him in Austria. Auinger got a lot of coverage since he was stuck behind a pack of cars he had to make his way through twice. (after an unfortunate mistake).

Actually there's two - I think he's got a brother (?) called Markus, who raced F3000 for Red Bull a few years ago I think. Question is: Is there like a link between the Friesacher's and Red Bull???

Okay, I just finished watching the F3000 race, and have to agree with Wycco. Auinger was awesome! He would go for it anywhere, all the time! Great stuff, and very entertaining.
Then there was Derek Hill who kept forgetting to brake for the first corner. In one attempt, he must have left at least 50 meters of black streaks on the track! Finally he spun, and had his nose clipped by.....Auinger!
The race was fun down in the field, but up front it looked a bit like F1.
Oh yeah, there was also a good fight between Piccolo and Nguyen.
