For those of you who saw St Petersburg, are you impressed with Bourdais yet? What a great driver !!! If newman hass could understand the meaning of the word strategy (like last year with da matta in MTL) it would be a first victory. He is stunning... I have very litlle doubt he'll be driving an F1 next year...

I don't think the strategy made him clip a wall. Great raw speed now lets see if he can learn from his mistakes. That was the most mature drive from Tracy I've ever seen, a well deserved victory. If Paul drives like that all year then the Championship is his.

I don't think the strategy made him clip a wall. I do. If he had come in lap 16 (like almost everyone else) he would have exited the pits in first place, on new cold tyres (like everyone else) and with a full tank of methanol (like everyone else). The pressure would have been no greater then on previous laps and he would not have clipped the wall. But he pited on lap 30, came back in the middle of the field and was pased left and right by divers on warm tyres. He thus had to push to hard and fucked up. Player's Forsythe looked very competitive last weekend. Great. Too bad carpentier fucked up: he both gave tracy the de facto number one status and robbed JF of his first 1-2 podium. PS Lemarié SUX. Give me that car.... S....

Sounds like he succumbs to pressure then...

As Pabs said he succumbed to pressure. Tough lesson but we'll see if he learned anything.

Yes, undue pressure originating in a team screw up.
In addition, he was fastest pretty much all week-end.
I was amazed at how lean Tracy looked. Let's see if he can remain this way for the rest of the season. I heard he went as low as 164 lbs, as opposed to the 220 he used to weight. He is now around 175 because he couldn't actually function at 164 lbs. For Tracy, it's almost anemia.lol

Not surprised by Bourdais at all, neither his speed nor his mistake under pressure. He has always been very fast, and he did some brilliant races last year in F3000. The commentators I listened to during the race, the guys on CART.com (yes, fucking Eurosport fucked us in the end and didn't show the race live like they had promised!) stated that it was not a strategy mistake from the Newman/Haas team, but rather Bourdais who missed the call to come in to the pits. Again, should that be the case, I am not surprised as it was his first pit-stop ever!! Bourdais will be dangerous, Tracy stands a good chance to win the championship, but be careful with Jourdain. He is very consistent, makes no mistakes, and if he begins to place on the podium like he did on Sunday, he'll be way up in the chart as the others make their regular mistakes. I mean, Tracy has to mess up at one point!!! Well, we finally did get to see some images from the race, and I have to say I loved seeing them go real wide as the entered the start straight Oh, and what the hell were Junquera and and Haberfeld doing They looked like JPM and MS in Austria 2001!!

Ok, Ok, get things straight first. I have not seen St Petersburg, I am not likely to see St Petersburg, and equally, I am unlikely to see any CART race this season with the exception of Brands Hatch Indy. (did I remember rightly they're calling it the London Grand Prix?!?! ) Anyway, St Petersburg aside - Bourdais is good. (And yes, Srrh, as you pointed out Lemarié is not - I so laughed at the result from Sunday! He's a giggle!!) He's a great all rounder too - I know the guy is good at F3, F3000 and sportscars, and is dead keen on the whole sportscar scene - hence he keeps turning up at Le Mans etc etc (well, it is his home town). Not sure I'd use the word stunning - but he was definitely one of my 'spots' of the season in 2000. 1999 he won French F3 - he had a season long battle with Sebastien Phillippe, and well, for obvious reasons I got them mixed up. Anyway, as i didn't know anything about either of them then, I didn't expect much of the French F3000 rookie in 2000 - especially after the 1999 rookies that had graduated from F3 had all struggled somewhat (and none of them were bad drivers - in fact, I still rate many of them higher than Bourdais - but that could be my bias), but Bourdais did not seem out of place at all. It's a pity Friesacher didn't quite live up to similar promise in the same way as Bourdais did. Bourdais is pleasant, fast, relatively consistent, and in my opinion a real contender for the championship in CART this season - although I was semi-surprised by him outperforming Junqueira - I'd give them about the same overall ability, although I'd put more money on Bourdais winning a championship (temprment slightly!) so who knows... Henrik - about Mario Haberfeld... as far as i can gather it was more him than Bruno To be honest there should be a law about allowing Brazilians race wheel to wheel with each other. The first thing i think of when I think of Haberfeld is the last race of the British F3 season in 1998 when he collided with Enrique Bernoldi - it was always going to end in tears and it was one of the most stupidist ever collisions I have seen in my life. Summed up the season in a sense - but what a way to end. If you want to see it, i have a movie clip I believe on one of my computers - when I get it onto my new computer I can e-mail you it. But trust me - Haberfeld-Bernoldi-Burti in a championship fighting together the whole season is scary... but oh sooooo much fun!!!!! hehehehehehehe (please note - the last CART race I saw apart from a pathetic attempt of highlights of rockingham last year was Surfers 2001 - yes, I've missed a lot, so feel free to correct my asumptions!

Actually Haberfeld did nothing wrong in my eyes, and I did watch the race. Mario moved over to defend his position, Junky had the right to cut back and go to the outside but tried to force his way through the inside which spoiled both of their corners.
I'm not a fan of Junky and really don't think he's anything special, he'll make a good journeyman and probably have a long career but never really stand out.

Well, I was just ahead of my time.
So Bourdais...pretty cool humm ?
The circuit was way too small. He almost cought himself it was so small. I don't remember it being so small when f1 were on it.
So congrats to bourdais too bad for paul T.(who by the way is TRANSFORMED...this is going to be a great year for PT if he keeps it up)

The circuit was way too small. He almost cought himself it was so small. I don't remember it being so small when f1 were on it. It wasn't that small for F1. That's the Brands Hatch Indy circuit (which is tiny) - so tiny it pisses me off every time anyone races there - except FFords!! F1 used the Grand Prix circuit. Most people in the UK think CART should use the same. Although small in terms of pits I think for CART - it's one of the bigger pitlanes here. You want to see KNockhills!!!

Second victory for Bourdais. THe first rookie since JPM to do so. A great day for him.
Congrats Bourdais. Srrh, you were right all along.

Bullshit!
If Mario is penalised then Bourdais's penalty should have been worse as he clearly blocked Mario on the last couple of laps much worse than anything Mario did earlier.
CART stepped in it this time.

first of all, I agree with Da silva, Domingez should NOT have received that penalty...it was BS...big time.
But all in all, Bourdais did a Great race...first on an oval....the kid has balls...have you seen him mowing the lawn at 200 mph ? That what heroes (and dead people) are made of.
If nothing happens to him, he's Tracy's main opponent this year. Much more so then "Junky" me thinks...
He could also have some sort of furture in F1...if Lemarié could land a testing job, surely Bourdais could land a RACING job...
