PK, I still feel terible for giving away the result of the first race! I hope you did get to watch the races though, and enjoyed the results. I must say it was a pleasant surprise to see Haga doing well on that APrilia for a change. Maybe he is finally getting the hang of it. Otherwise, it was obvious that the Michelin are the tires to have in SBK these days. Poor Ben is not on the level he should be due to his tires!

MAJOR WUFF DOGGIES!!!!
Wow, did anyone catch the "Super Pole" for Superbikes at Laguna Seca?
UNBELIEVABLE! Maybe F1 should look into the same type of qualifying for their top 6 fastest practice times?
What drives!!! These guys had one warm-up lap, then BAM their ONLY opportunity to get a pole lap! Several pushed it to the extreme & I couldn't believe my luck of stumbling onto it. Speed Channel showed it Saturday night! Awesome!
Hate to say it, I missed the actual race, too busy.... :-(
Later, RacerX

RacerX, Glad you got to see that! They are indeed insane!! I missed the superpole myself this time, but I caught the race. Good stuff, especially as the fall in to the corkscrew!! Go to love superbikes!

Oh man, what a picture....excuse me while I wipe off the druel...LOL! Wuff...this is GREAT stuff. In the "Super Pole", they went balls out for their one & only hot lap...it was incredible. BAM! Wow, the suspence, seeing these guys only being allowed ONE lap, it was very dramatic. I seriously think other forms of motor sports should look into this format. Freaking awesome! And hey, if the fastest guy blew his lap, well it seems it would make for a more exciting race. Those guys were pushing the limit, like crazy. Wuff, they have guts! I'd do damned near ANYTHING with four tyres on the ground, but these guys were doing stuff crazier & with only TWO tyres!!! Oh hell, I'm hooked. I've follwoed Superbikes in the past, just with a passing iterest, but I'm affraid I'll have to start following much closer now. If for anything, at least to catch the Super Pole!!! Damned unbeliveable....straight up incredible. One man, ONE machine, ONE lapp...sounds like it should be in theatres, no? ;D Wuff, I have to have more.... I have a sh*t eating grin on my face, just thinking about it...I loved it! Later, RacerX P.S. Oh yeah, Thanks again Henrik...great picture! One Texas Tornado fan...coming up!!!

Oh yes, what a breath taking picture, I can't stop staring at it!!! It really looks like a photo composition. Absolutely awsome! Troy Bayliss in the lead of course....
Superbike is a real gripping championship. It was brought back to life a few years ago, partly thanks to the superpole addition (which Carl Fogarty used to hate!!) only to be on its way out again. A real shame.
Enjoy while it lasts everyone, the days of Superbike are unfortunately counted.
Next round: Brands Hatch, UK - July 28th

RacerX, So glad you like the photo, and even more pleased to see that you have become hooked on REAL racing. As you may have noticed, I have been trying for some time to spark some interest in motorcycle racing. I certainly find that those guys are true racers, and the results they get depend so much more on the rider than what is the case of the driver in F1. Sure, they are nuts, but I love them. As for the superpole, that is a cool concept. I remember being at Lausitzring for the superpole last year, standing right next to turn one, and was totally blown away! I thought I had seen some serious track action before, but there I was left speachless. If you want to see more photos, go to www.ducati.com as they have absolutely stunning photos from each race.

Thanks greg99, for the next race update....and thank you Henrik, for the link!
Wuff, I think Laguna Seca just might have to be "next years" vacation.....or Road Atlanta?? Oh man, seeing those guys blitz through the screw is too tempting. I might have to seriously look into that!
Thanks again, Rx

Rx, Keep me updated if your thought of going to Laguna for a superbike race begins to take shape. Having been there a few times for the CART races, I have always wanted to go for a bike race. Watching the CART cars race through the corkscrew is truly an experience, and I shudder to think of what it must be like to see the superbikers!! Here's to biking!

There was some real reacing to be seen this weekend. The Superbike championship was to be decided, and Colin "The Texas Tornado" was leading Troy Bayliss by one point! Trouble for Bayliss was that Colin had been the fastest all weekend, and it looked to be almost impossible for him to win it. The two went on to the track hand had a battle of a lifetime. They were both riding like gods, nobody wanting to give in. It was faught to the last meters in the first race of the day, with Colin actually winning it, and thus more or less securing the championship. He then went on to clinch it for good after the second race. Great stuff guys, not like those F1 wimps!! P.S. Honda is really doing a killing this year in bike racing. They have now won the MotoGP WDC, Superbike WDC and Supersport WDC!

Hey,
I watched the race on Speed last night and I have to agree it was awesome. Both Colin and Troy were going at it tooth and nail and actually passed each other what must of been a dozen times. Well done to Colin as he fought back all year to beat the superior Ducati's.

Time to revive this thread, seeing that the WSBK championship kicked off this weekend. Even if both Bayliss and Corsers have moved over to MotoGP, and the contructors are concentrating more on that too, there is still some great racing action to watch in the WSBK. Foggy now has his team with the stunningly beautiful Foggy FP1, ridden by Corser and Hayden. Here's a pic of the FP1, with flames coming out of the exhaust. It looked very impressive all through the race: Well the new Ducati 999 took the victory of the weekend. Surprised?
