Each year there is a race organized called the Race of Champions (not to be confused with the IROC, International Race of Champions). It is essentially a rally sprint, on a track where two cars compete against each other. Originally it was created to end the rally season by having the rally drivers compete against each other in the same machinery, to crown the ultimate champion of the year. All very spectacular to watch. This year they also organized the Nations Cup. Several countries would enter three drivers, one being a motorcycle racer, one a track racer and one a rally racer. The countries competing where Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Germany, UK and the US. Several very famous names were present such as Christiano Da Mata, Kenny Bräck, Marcus Grönholm, Colin Edwards, Marco Melandri, Alex Barros, Jeff Gordon etc. It was fun watching Marcus Grönholm take Jeff Gordon for a ride to show him how a rally car works, and totalling the car! Anyway, the end result, the USA won!! I was amazed by the result as I really didn't think Jeff Gordon would be particularly good. He did improve very quickly though, and did some very fast times in the end. Colin Edwards was outstanding, but that I expected a bit more. Anway, well done USA! Now, imagine if they could do a similar race for F1 drivers, on a track, everybody using the same car.

I'm surprised you underestimate Jeff. He is typically one of the fastest on the two Winston Cup road races. I actually have a lot of respect for Jeff Gordon.

Ah well da Silva, I have never seen a NASCAR road course race! I knew they did them, I think Sears Point and Watkins Glenn no?
No offense, but it just seemed to me a big step from oval racing to rally. Anyway, I have earned some respect for a NASCAR driver...
