Defending the Crown (Brought to you by the same crazed lunatic that penned Diaries Of A Mad Man.
Greetings my fellow SC karting enthusiasts. It seems today would be a perfect day to start the new season, to start the defense of my crown.
I called upon one of my favorite opponents, (one easily vanquished last season) to start off the new season. I was confident, yet a little worried about the new competition. I wasn't sure what new revolutionary ideas my Williams competitor would have at his access.
You know the off season leaves plenty of time for engineers to develope fantastic new ideas, and incorporate them into their new cars, so I was a bit hesitant. However, on the flip side, Iwas confident in my team, knowing they'd done incredible work in the off season.
I was even more confident in my abilities as a pilot too. As you know, I AM the great one of SC Karting...I am the Innaugural Shamu Croaks Karting Champion, the King of SC Karting, the Master of Disaster...I am the M$ of SC Karting!
<the sound of fas cheering in the background>
OK, enough accolades, I don't have time to brag right now...later perhaps, for now the story MUST be told!
Anyway, I convinced myself that my fears, of what my contender would have access to, were unfounded and that there's no time like the present to start the defense of my title.
I called upon none other then my very own Juan "Pabs"lo Montoya! He anxiously agreed to a season opening title fight! (This got me worried again, for he didn't even hesitate.) I wondered if he were really that eager to yet again have his butt kicked on the track...or maybe, just maybe he was confident in what his team had done for him over the winter? Wuff, who knows..only time would tell.
We agreed to meet at the famous sight where so many before had fallen to the wrath of my greatness. The date & time of the defense was set!
11:50am, Tuesday the 21st day of January. A date that should be noted in history as to the official start to my defending my crown.
I prepared mentally, I went over the track in my mind...round and round I went, soaking up every turn, every appex, knowing exactly when & where to brake...light braking, hard braking, I was there...spot on like a true champion.
I drove to north Austin, pumped, excited, and even eager to chat a little smack talk before the race began.
My competitor pulled up shortly after I arrived at the track. We greeted in the parking lot. "H'mm...", I thought to myself "...he looks like he's been training." He looked physically fit, no worse for the time off, he's obviously been busy training.
Again, I wondered if he really was this onfident knowing he had something on me. BUT, again, I became rational and put those doubts to rest, for I am the great one, I am the defending SC Karting Champion, I am the...oh hell, you know who I am!
Anyways, we shook hands & headed for the doors to the establishment, still carrying on with the formalities and compliments.
When we reached our objective, we were in for a massive surprise: The track had changed it's open times for the winter season:
Monday through Friday: 2:00pm until 11:00pm
Saturday & Sunday 11:00am until Midnight
I tugged on the door, and Oh My GOD...it was locked.
I reread the sign with the winter hours...
Wuff, all this hype and excitement for nothing. Our lunch hour would be over in another 45 minutes, with no way for us to wait until 2:00pm.
Shame...shame...I cried like Mika behind the trees...
I just wanted to touch those beautiful cars once more. I wanted to feel the wind rush by, to stroke the wheel, to hear the exhaust purr, to smell the spent fuel, and most importantly...to hear my challenger cry out: "No...NO...NOOOO...he's won again!!!"
It seems this mad man will have to wait for yet another opportunity to start the real defense of the crown.
Sad...
