Have any of you noticed Toyota's new "gills" like the F2003GA?
Renault's updated aero as released at Silverstone has whittled away much of the rear mass of the body. I'm sure it is an improvement in performance, but I think it's ugly.
Does anyone else get the impression that Mclaren has stalled in development of the MP4-17D?
No doubt that Williams has made the biggest strides in development thus far this season.

Yeah, I saw the Toyota, er Ferrari, gills as well. Too funny. Weren't they accused of (more or less) copying the F2002 verbatum? Now they have the gills as well. Interesting. Not very subtle. But interesting. If Renault's 72 degree engine is an improvement in hp, then I think they are going to be tough to beat. I thought that their current car is one of the best aerodynamically as it is...and now they're making improvements (!?!) Look out big three..... Mac is supposed to have a "new" 17D this weekend (aren't they?). But I thought I read somewhere that Adrian Newey stated that the changes aren't readily apparent (whatever that means). We'll see. I think the anteater is in trouble. My guess is that their next contender is a mix between the 17D and the "18." I agree 100% with your comments about Williams. Early in the season it looked like they had a dog. But now, they seem to be the team to beat. Does anyone know what they have done? Or was it just getting a 'feel' for the car?

seems most of their improved form is down to the new Michelin front tyre construction which was introduced at Monaco.

Yeah, I agree. Michelin has definitely found something that works. Although Steve Matchett mentioned during the race that Williams tested extensively at Silverstone earlier in the year. Apparently after those tests, he stated, Williams completely changed the rear wishbone assembly and geometry. Better michelins? Better suspension? Probably the combination no doubt.
