During the Iraqi conflict proper(military conflict) the news channels(the ones that i saw) took a very similar approach to the reporting of the war, but now have begun to branch back to their original standard viewpoints. Eg, whilst the coverage was very similar between the BBC and CNN, now the CNN crew are lingering on images of a triumphant american force, and rejoicing Iraqi's and BBC are starting to question again, having discussion on the apparrent faliure of American and british forces to prevent the looting of important sites(museum) and probing a little deeper.
My question is on a scale with the most neutral, abjective and explorative station on the top, and most biased on the bottom, where do all the stations place?
PS. A while back when posed the question of a good abjective reporter or program I advocated Tim Sebastion's HARDtalk. Recently i have seen what i saw as simple devil's advocacy turn into an ugly style of questioning, putting words into the interviewee's mouth, dictating and distorting what they say. Bah.

PPS. I put this under Intelekt rather then politics, as i thought that was where it sat most appropriately, but feel free to move it to politics if it starts to turn that way.

Well there is the reporting of the news a la Al Bundy/Joe Friday "just the facts m'am", which I think most of the time CNN is. Duck
Then there is is news with a prognosticator and anyalist putting forth a point of view. This I don't like whether I agree with the point of view or not. This includes most of the others plus CNN sometimes especially with the embeds. I guess it's pretty hard to be neutral when the othe side is trying to kill you. Ask Walt Rodgers.

Wycco, you said, "Biased To The Left: msNBC (big time) NBC (big time) CBS CNN (slightly) BBC(slightly) ITV(slightly)"
If you think these are left wing, you have been in the States to long, they are about as left wing as Stanley Mathews.

Speaking of news... Remeber when US said the Russians sold night vision equipment and anti-tank missiles to the Iraqis? Well my brother told me that about a week before it was on the news. He said he heard it from a reliable Serbian source... Isn't that weird?

Tim Sebestian of HardTalk sux. he panders to public opinion and i've seen him badger people only if he knows that is what the public wants and it will make him look good. overall, i rely on the bbc as my primary newssource, i only watch TV for arount 10-15 mins a day in the morning while i eat breakfast. and the bbc news programs fit very nicely in my schedule. when the business news starts, i know it is time for me to take a crap.
cnn has better chicks, but thats about it. where bbc really scores is the weather forecast, very very accurate.
among the local news channels, star news has branched into 2 24x7 news channels one in hindi and the other in english, but i only get the hindi version which i don't understand. otherwise the reporting there is very balanced. there is a new channel called "Aaj Tak" which translates to "till today" in english. my friends, family and colleagues claim that it is very good, but i have yet to see and verify for meself.
bottom line: bbc still rules for me.

Bias to the left: none. Unless the left is dead center, then PBS and ITV.
Bias to the right from most to least:
Fox News (so much shit it ain't news!!) CNN (I use to like it, became a propaganda machine...) ABC (TV show sucks, but a very decent web-site) CBS (Still THE standard in US news, dunno why....) NBC (Populist) BBC (My news...BBC world news...with the lovely Michal Hussain...hmmmm....) MSNBC (Because of M.ODonnel...) PBS (Not bad, in depth, a bit long...) ITV (My alternative to BBC)
Best neutral news show: BBC's panorama, PBS' frontline, PBS's Point of View (POV)...occasionally 60 minutes.
Best news show on FOX: The Simpsons.

Yup the Daily Show w/Jon Stewart is on every night on CC. Very good show.

Srrh; You could be thinking of the Russian news show where the (female) news readers take off their cloths as the show progresses.
