First off...
What is FPOTM:
It is a silly- but extremely fun monthly competition where users of Shamu try to compete to get the First Post Of The Month. (French Time Zone... GMT + 1).
Competitors are assigned points depending on where they finnish. The first poster gets 10 points... 2nd 6pts...3rd 4 points.... 4th 3 points... 5th 2 points and 6th 1 point.
Currently rules stipulate the scores be added from months 2-12 of each year to determine a winner. January is put aside to allow people to have their own New Year celebrations.
As well as an individual award there is a team award- where teams are assigned points based on their members points.
It may sound silly- but it is fun- and very competative- to be a season-winner you need to consistantly finnish within a few seconds of the new month.
There are some more fun... side competitions that go on- but this will probably be enough to give you an idea of what its all about.
Why am I bringing this up now?
Well- a lot of people are discussing new rules- so in essence although the season is already 3 months in (we started late this year)- the season is in a way only just beginning... now would be the time to join.
Especially since the size of teams may soon be increasing- you could still end up on a winning team.
