Either he's got big ones, or his skull is filled with ****.
Okay, so Montreal is off the schedule. And I think its a permanent thing.
The branch held out was a one-year exemption and compensation, etc. BTW who was going to pay out the lost revenue? Not me. (But I bet thats the way it would've turned out).
No, Bernie wants a PERMANENT exemption.
Thats right.... "we don't give a rats arse about your so-called laws... we're the filthy rich and they don't apply to us".
I feel so bad for the teams that have managed to kick the tobacco habit.
The outfall is that North America is down to one event... guess they don't sell many cars here.... Well, not Ferraris, Mercs, Renaults, Jordans or BARS, anyway.
Bernie also feels sad about the $80Million that the local Montreal economy is loosing. I've got to wonder about that... Lets see... over $450 a pop for so-so seats, hotel rates jacked up to 3x normal, can't get into a restaurant... and thats "La Bras et une Jambe" for us bourgeousie. Oh, thats the bonus for springing for the $1500 'no frills' redeye flight from way the hell and gone the other side of the country. (Yup that adds up to over $3000 for a dirty weekend in MTL.)
And the other sad point. At the risk of sounding like our Prime Minister... a Law is a Law. Otherwise why have them. This one in particular. It seems as though tobacco doesn't really need to be advertised. I think we've been over this in other threads. The business of FormulaOne has devolved to this: A tart flogging cigarettes.
No thanks, I quit.
I will watch out the rest of the season. Next year I will only watch the non-tobacco events. As more circuts come into use around the world -- as cynical as it is possible to be -- note that these are tobacco-advertising regions.
The less I will watch.
Thanks for setting me straight about what the real aim of Motorsports is "at its highest level".
