Okay - let's do a quick poll on whether or not Ralf's penalty will be upheld when they meet Tuesday to decide (decision to be announced on Wednesday).

Maybe the FIA will hold him responsible but it's not worthy of 10 places. Maybe 5. Frankly, Kimi was optimistic about the outside anyway. Knowing that corner moves out to the left before sweeping to the right, Kimi should have known Rubens would have to eventually stray left. Then with Ralfie trying to make the corner, something had to give. Without Kimi in that corner, everyone gets thru. With him there, well...tears.

NO, is the simple answer to that question! As I suspected, he now has a £33,000 fine instead of the 10 places back on the grid. Not only that, but now they are going to investigate both Kimi and Rubes part in it further! Bugger!

What makes me laugh about FIA rulings such as this one is that they confirm the ruling of the stewards, yet they decide to modify the penalty.
To me they would need to change the ruling in order to change the penalty, but then again, the FIA can do whatever they want.
I suppose for the championship it might be more interesting this way though...

As I suspected- he got a slap on the wrist! Glad for 2 reasons! 1) Makes the championship more exciting. 2) It was a stupid ruling (my opinion) anyway. However 2 reasons I'm not glad! 1) Shows the FIA don't have the balls to punnish people. They are nothing short of wimpy in that area. 2) C'mon- its Ralf- surely he deserves to be punnished! LOL

What a shame I still hold hopes that he gets a DNQ on Saturday (poetic justice)

What a shame I still hold hopes that he gets a DNQ on Saturday (poetic justice) lol now that would be worse than ten spots. Justice delayed but still served IMO FIA as Wycco posted, what a bunch of wimps and politicans.

Now if Ralf were leading the championship by some margin this late in the season would the counsel have a different verdict?
(DeadCat)
I know it may take some imagination but I’m quite sure the outcome would be very different than today’s…

I agree with DC. Those rulings are a function of the championship standings big time...and Williams is only 2 points behind Ferrari. The FIA really needs this season to be exciting after they introduced all the new regulations to "spice up" F1. So far the Driver's championship has been pretty exciting, and the Constructor's is getting much better. What would really help the FIA is if someone other than M$ wins the WDC as they can claim that the rules really made a difference in reducing the level of boredom in modern F1.
More to come after the next time M$ and JPM bang wheels...
