A traditional Xhosa meal here in SA that is bloody disgusting is the "Smiley". A smiley is an entire goat's head, slow-boiled for a few hours and then eaten. Everything is consumed - brain, eyes, everything. The reason it's called a smiley is because the cheeks dissolve away while cooking leaving a smiley looking goat's head in the pot...

Try this, then, you hot-fruit-haters...
Take a whole pineapple... wash thoroughly, split in quarters, core, brush with a little seasoning oil (or unseasoned, your choice), and barbecue grill until hot, or slightly charred...... try it with "spicy" foods.

Is Vindaloo and alternate spelling of the Indian dish Vandaloo? Or a completely seperate dish... A local reataurant, the Delhi Palace, serves a kick ass Chicken Vandaloo... A real hot spicy- Chicken curry (I don't remember it being particulary lemony)... problem is- that dish is HOT HOT... vindaloo it is. and it's more goan than anything. pork vindaloo is the original, chicken vindaloo evolved for obvious religious reasons. smokingun

I dunno about the worst thing I've eaten, a nickname of mine, when eating, would translate to public dumpster so there aren't many things I wouldnt eat... dunno about DPC though... I have a friend who eats apples with tonnes of golf dressing. hmmm !!! coming to think about it, back in colombia, there's a region that is sorta famous for hormigas culonas (fat ass ants)... they come out of the ground about September, they... (hunt???) them and deep fry them. what's grosse about them isn't their taste, they taste like... (fried anything ...grasshopers???), what really makes me hate them is that, if you cant thoroughly brush your teeth immediately afterwards, be sure you'll be feeling uncomfortable miniscule rocks in your mouth... yuck... just fyi, and so that I'm not marked forever as... a manner-less ant eater, it is one of the few things I've really regreted eating.

Now we're entering early summer/late spring, our yard is full of grasshoppers and locusts... I'll have to go harvest a few for dinner tonight... I love almonds!!!! Wonder what the wife will say... shes not too keen on almonds!
