In the bush+WMD thread TC raised an interesting point. Have any of the democrats have a snowballs chance in hell of beating bush? The line up of nine Dems with any political standing that TC raised is as follows: John Kerry John Edwards Howard Dean Al Sharpton Bob Graham CarolMosely Braun Dick Gephardt Joe Lieberman Dennis Kucinich Now again, none of these are really common household names(not that i even live in america or anything ) and i would like to know who would have the votes. Lieberman supported Bush's policies without reservation even at the extent to fully back the war- hence he fits into the terribly draconian "with us or against us" view in the "with us" column. With the popular support that bush is recieving over this 'successful'[sic] war it has been suicide for any of the democrats to criticize the current government. Suicide as it may have been, Howard Dean has been doing just this, criticizing the actions of Bush, and getting the expected torrent of disdain from the Republicans.(that lily livered, yeller bellied varment!) Whether engineered or not this has got him a certain amount of that oh-so important limelight and has propelled him into a position of reverence from the hard line democrat supporters and a small amount of apprehension from Republicans(that low down dirty snake!) I gotta run but i have more to say, and id like to know what you(especially those living in america with the chance to actually influence the outcome{re:voting})think, and what you would do.

True. Just back from the movie(Jin Roh: tries to be too complex but falls on it's face in the process by alienating the audience. Nice animation though) To the extent of my knowledge i seem to recall that Kerry is a Veteran(of the Viet Nam war??) so he has that military connection that most Americans seem to lap up- just look at GWB's now famous stroll across the deck of an Aircraft Carrier, all kitted out like a pilot(why, thats like two childhood fantasies fulfilled at once!: "when i grow up i wanna be POTUS or a fighter pilot") It seems to me that if any of the Democrats want to be the president they will have to elect one of their fold to represent all, without the slander match that would ensue in the primary. They would have to reaffiliate themselves with the flag(they lost whatever tenuous grip they had when the majority did not support the war) and pull a lot of publicity stunts, not like kissing babies and all that but by going out on a limb and say...err... Perhaps donning a fighter outfit and taking a trip onboard the USS Murdoch. Unfortunately i don't see any of the current bunch going out on such a limb... ...Perhaps four more years with Bush wont be so bad?

Of course Lieberman backed Bush in the war... Lieberman hates the Muslims- he has disgusted me several times with his random anti-arab remarks... (also I hate his- lets censor everything I disagree with approach)...
In these flamable times Lieberman is the last man anyone wants in the White House... I guarantee we'll have more wars in the middle East if Lieberman takes the helm...
Bush will win again no doubt, he is just too popular right now... I just wish McCain had won the Republic primary way back when... It would be nice to have a moderate in the house.
(I didn't like McCain at the time because his whole platform was: "I'm a veteran, vote for me" - but I've since learnt more about his policies.)
JWK, John Kerry, Al Sharpton, Dick Gephardt and Joe Lieberman are all household names in the US. (maybe not outside the US- but most people within the country will recognize the names...)

Jin Roh: tries to be too complex but falls on it's face in the process by alienating the audience. Nice animation though I couldn't agree less. Great fable about the loss of political innocence... Told through the litlle red ridding hood... I have it on DVD...love it.... Liberman is a religious biggot Dick G. is burned up AL sharpton...please... Howard Dean is heard about a lot in these parts.... On this I share Tony Blankley's opinion: 1)IF WMD are not discovered 2)AND american soldiers keep on dying in Iraq 3)AND another muslim related terrorist act is commited on US grounds. all this before next election.... Then G.W.Bush is toast. Perhaps even by his own party IF the poor intel quality keeps on leeking to the media... 2 things will help: his tax cut which DOES NOT aplly to 20.000.000 middle income familly and...the economy, stupid... If 1 apply Robin Cook will take on Blair, head first, in the UK democrat party (new labour...right....) s.

JWK...don't get your hopes too high. In polls from CNN to the NewYork Times, it seems Bush would beat all of them, hands down, if the elections were today.
THAT'S not too big of a deal though. Remember what happened to his father. He came out of Desert Storm with unbelievably high ratings, but a year later he was busted out by ...oh hell, you know his name. LOL!
Anyway, "W" does have one thing going for him, he doesn't have Ross Perot (or another serious 3rd party candidate) to split the republican ticket.
As for the Dems, they're generally in a world of hurt right now. It seems the whole party is in a disarray & they're searching for direction. They're eating themselves from with-in, except when they can rally to attack "W", which they try to do weekly, but none of their claims seem to effect the public.
As of this week, Hillary has started a media barrage, and the media is pushing her face real hard, but she swears she's not running for office. Good for her, latest polls show 54% of the people DON'T trust her, and think she's basically full of sh*t. In the same poll, it seems 30% do trust her. Seems like the same amount of die-hard Clinton fans of the past. Still, no where near enough to challenge Bush.
Most political analyst are guessing she won't run in '04, but that she's starting to lay ground for '08. Who knows...alot could happen between now and '08. (But I guarantee that bitch will lose to ME! BTW-Srrh, how's my RacerX for POTUS campaign coming?) LOL, did I just call hillary a bitch? Ohh, that won't help my cause...LOL.
I also agree with alot of what Srrh has said, with one exception. If there is another attack on US soil, our public likes having a Repub in office in times of crisis.
The scariest thing possible for Dems right now, is that our economy should pick up. Almost like the war (which is causing them serious public image problems) the Dems were hoping we suffered big losses, just to gain face. The same with the economy right now. They're hoping it doesn't recover, so they can pick up votes in '04.
This would work for them, if it wasn't so blatant. Freaking idiots. They all but came out and said "I hope we lose this war in Iraq." It's caused alot of backlash, and cost them alot of support. We actually had an idiot professor claim in public: "I wish there were a million Mogadeshu."
What a stupid fuck. Yeah, he wanted many of our Marines to die in combat, just so he could prove his point. typical Dem, "ends justify the means" bullsh*t, but he's stupid. Think about how many Mogs died in that battle.
I know I'm often guilty of it, but this guy didn't seem to think before he spoke. Nor is he apologetic for his words. Could you imagine the outcry if David Duke were still around & said something as stupid about a million cross burnings w/ hangings? He'd be run off the planet.
Wuff, i could go on, but I think you're getting the point. Right now, the Dems don't have a snowballs chance in hell, but like I said earlier...alot could happen between now & the election. 18 months is along time in this country...LOL!
Later, Rx

"Beyond Iraq," a paperback title tying the recent war to Bible prophecy and published by a small publishing company called White Stone Books, today supplanted Hillary Clinton's "Living History" in the No. 2 spot on Amazon.com.
While Clinton received an $8 million advance for her memoirs and won the cover of Time magazine, Michael D. Evans, author of "Beyond Iraq," is mostly known for his work in the Christian book market. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- A survey released this morning by Gallup finds a majority of Americans don't go along with Mrs. Clinton's account that she did not believe her husband was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky until he disclosed it to her some eight months after it was first reported.
Only 35 percent say she is telling the truth, and 56 percent believe she's not.
And a Quinnipiac University poll indicates almost one in five people – 18 percent – think less favorably of the Democrat because of the book, with only eight percent holding a more favorable view.
While three out of four Americans say they've read or heard about "Living History," 67 percent say it makes no difference in their opinion of Hillary.
