I'm sorry I missed this glendo. Actually I can't really tell you that much about him. I only saw him as governor for 1 year (2000) and he was campaigning most of the time. But to tell you the truth, I never really heard many complaints about him...
Maybe Rx can give you more info
Sorry

Hey Glendo!
OK, from what I gather, he was a pretty good Gov, with one MAJOR exception.
He worked great with all the members in office, especially with the Dems. It was as if there were no Dems or Republicans, but that they were all Texans.
When he was working, he accomplished a fair deal of things.
He was the first Gov to actually recognise that Mexico existed! He did alot of work (good) work, with El Presidente Fox of Mexico.
At least, on the surface it all seemed well. As of late, I feel he's been neglecting our big neighbor to the south, but I guess all this other sh*t has taken up the majority of his time.
I look forward to when it's done, for I think he can really accomplish great things w/ Mexico. Mexico is a giant country, with tons of natural resources. There's NO REASON for the people of Mexico to live like they do. So many come across the boarder daily, to get jobs.
The people of Mexico are hard working people, and should live no different than the typical US citizen, or the typical Canadian citizen.
Anyway, I'm straying a bit...
He neglected a few things (Environmental Issues being the most important) but he took a strong stance on crime.
There's where I find the MAJOR exception. He is a proponent of the death penalty, and we executed an unbelievable amount of murderers & thugs while he was in office. My only hope is that ALL the ones put to death, were guilty! BUT...that still doesn't make it right.\
My biggest problem was that a mentally retarded man was executed, during his term as Gov. At first I felt this was unbelievable, that Bush wouldn't give the man a "stay" of execution. BUT....after reading many of the facts, up to and including that the Judge required the jury to consider the mans "mental capacity" during the punishment phase...it seems he was not much different than the others that were executed.
His positives, he was able to work with EVERYONE. Even the Democrats in Texas liked the guy & liked him alot. Unlike the previous administration, when Bush said he was going to do something, he tried his best to do it.
This really confussed alot of the Dems around here, they were used to politics as usual, and couldn't grasp the concept that the man was honest! LOL, no Bullshit!
However, like Pabs mentioned, once he decided to run for Pres, that's all we saw of him: Campaign, Campaign, Campaign....
Kind of like now. It seems he got into office, worked for a year, then had to start campaigning for the Mid-Term elections....endless campaigning! I think this kind of stuff sucks! They should be working at solving the countries problems, but instead, they have to spend two out of 4 years campaigning! Watch next year, when he starts campaigning for Re-Election.
Hell, it's like NOTHING gets done every other year!!! Horse poop, but that's not his fault, I guess...he didn't make the rules for running for office.
Oh well, all in all, I'd say he beats the pants off our previous governors, like the school reform lying biatch Ann Richards.
She screwed this state out of soooooooo much freaking money...Wuff, all in the Name of the Children!
If you'd like a run down on that, let me know...LOL!
Later, RacerX

Although I understand what you are saying Rx, and I know it is how things work today, I do find it sick that once somebody has reached his goal of becoming the leader of his country, his primary objective is to remain the leader. The world is just so messed up in politics worldwide. If all politicians would spend as much time doing their job as they spend trying to ensure they get re-elected, the world just might be a better place.
