(AP) - Show the flag and pass the ketchup was the order of the day in House cafeterias Tuesday. Lawmakers struck a lunchtime blow against the French and put "freedom fries" on the menu. And for breakfast they'll now have "freedom toast." The name changes follow similar actions by restaurants around the country protesting French opposition to the administration's Iraq war plans.
The quickest way to piss off a frenchman is to attack his language.

LOL... Not sure where French toast got its name... But "fries/chips" are anything but French... To French (besides meaning to kiss) also means to cut into sticks... Thus what the Americans call French Fries are Potato"e "s French Cut and fried... Thus- the French get no credit for the fry- just the cut... And the french cut things up into sticks... hmmm whats another word that begins with "F" that means small sticks? (need another hint- the letters "a,g,o and t" are also in that word) Coincidence? I think not!

I'm sure the French are laughing their heads off at the petty idiocy of that.
On another note, thats democracy for you.
No room for disagreements in US style democracy.
Everyone has to agree with the US of course, or they are the enemy. What use is the UN if the members are either going to be bullied into agreeing with the US or the US will do as it pleases anyway.

well, I wont be posting at your forum then I suppose. Nor will I care. But I wont be renaming my fries over it either.
What a bold move though really by the congress. I'm embarrased by the idiocy of it. Seriously, the French will be laughing at us.
