Corruption and embezzlement continue to thrive in occupied Kashmir due to inability of the puppet regime to check the growing menace.
According to reports, over 300 cases of corruption have piled up but no big fish has been caught so far.
Corrupt elements in the puppet Jammu and Kashmir Government continue having a good time as the coalition government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has so far failed to fulfil its commitment of tightening grip on the menace. The Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alliance partners in the government, had in separate poll manifestoes promised to end corruption. However, little has changed so far.
Many organisations, including the Power Development Department, the Excise and Taxation and police, have virtually become dens of corruption. Corruption has got "institutionalised" and no so-called government has taken steps to end the same.

As for the original subject, the recent outrage and killings inside Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir including serious violations all along the LoC has awakened the world once again for upped activities to understand the turbulence in this region. Reassurance outside India is growing which is to the advantage of Jammu & Kashmir where the line of control (LoC) is turned into the Line of conflict.
British Premier Tony Blair in London on Oct.19.2001 said,” The instability as regard of the dispute is there and that is one of the reasons we are trying to work as hard as we can both with India and Pakistan to reduce tension there. Now again these things are very difficult but I think you can rest assure that we are very well aware of the dangers because of that particular source of tension and the need for us to focus on it”
Earlier President Bush US Secretary of State and also the Assistant Secretary of State during his visit to Islamabad and New Delhi repeated their call for restraint along the LoC. India perhaps not caring that the future events could be the most testing time has engaged itself in the torrent of accusations which elsewhere vanished into the solidarity and support for Jammu & Kashmiri If everyday is the day of violation by India along the LoC each day is reflective of support and concern for Jammu & Kashmir. Although there is no relief but whatever is occurring is annoying India to the displeasure of its total leadership.
India anxiously endeavored its best to manipulate its position on Jammu & Kashmir. Even if compared with the actual assessment by India’s leadership, India appears the big looser as the world concern on Jammu & Kashmir is growing and the pressure is mounting on India.

and one for the road...
Did you guys know that US Congressman Edolphus Towns (D-NY) has sponsored and introduced Resolution No. 656 in the U.S. House of Representatives (106 Congress - 2nd Session), which strongly demands that the corrupt and repressive Government of India should take immediate steps to end the massive and systematic human rights abuses by Indian Government forces in India, Hindu-occupied Kashmir, Hindu-held Khalistan (East Punjab) and Hindu-controlled Nagaland of Christians.
"Although the Constitution of India provides for freedom of religion, violence and intolerance are perpetrated against many religious groups in India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus," the House Resolution 656 points out.
The House Resolution states that the Government of India is a Political Mafia because its "human rights abuses involve political killings by government forces, including the deaths of persons being held in custody, and the manipulation of physical evidence to provide false justifications for the use of lethal force."
The Towns Resolution raises the following 5 demands of the U.S. House of Representatives:
(1) The Government of India should take immediate steps to end the human rights abuses perpetrated by government forces in India.
(2) The Government of India should enforce the constitutional right to freedom of religion by protecting the people of India from religiously motivated violence and intolerance.
(3) The Government of India should develop policies to end the discrimination and violence faced by women in Indian society.
(4) The Government of India should develop policies to end the use of child labor in India.
(5) The United States should consider the extent to which the Government of India has acted in conformity with the principles expressed in [above] paragraphs (1) through (4) as a factor in future decisions regarding the allocation of [American] foreign assistance.
The Towns Resolution, which was referred to the House Committee on International Relations, is based on the following 11 points:
(1) The Government of India should take immediate steps to end the human rights abuses by government forces in India, and for other purposes.
(2) Significant human rights abuses exist in India despite extensive constitutional and statutory safeguards.
(3) These human rights abuses involve political killings by government forces, including the deaths of persons being held in custody, and the manipulation of physical evidence to provide false justifications for the use of lethal force.
(4) Human rights abuses are particularly evident in the [occupied] state of Jammu and Kashmir and several northeastern states in India.
(5) The human rights abuses include the disappearance, torture and killing of people by [Indian] government forces.
(6) Although the Constitution of India provides for freedom of religion, violence and intolerance are perpetrated against many religious groups in India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus.
(7) Such violence and intolerance occur in many parts of India, particularly at the state and local levels.
(8) The failure of the Government of India to protect these religious groups has abridged their right to religious freedom.
(9) During the last 18 months Christians, in particular, have been attacked or killed [in India by Hindu terrorists] and have had their houses of worship destroyed.
(10) Extensive legal and societal discrimination as well as violence, including female bondage and forced prostitution, occur against women in India.
(11) The use of child labor in India remains a serious human rights problem.
Nice....
My Personal thanks to my friend Badresh who is providing me with this...

All the countries in that region, including the middle east, take human rights abuse as an everyday part of life.
