Sen. Paul Wellstone killed in plane crash

Well Well we got a hell of a monkey wrench thrown today. Sen Wellstone's death means that Independant Gov Jesse Ventura has the ability to appoint his replacement. If Jesse appoints a Republican that means the Senate could reconvene in special session and pass all the bills that have been held up by Tom Daschle. This also speeds up the process since many bills have been passed by the house and would be void if the term was over.


BTW- It is sad to see anyone die, Especially a man and his entire family. My biggest fear has always been airplanes. This always makes me spooked.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I used to work at a maintenance shop so I have the inside scoop on that.

Hopefully in 20 years in won't matter what the pilots skills are- I'm hoping technology will make planes more "intelligent" to self-avoid accidents.

Nonetheless... Regarding the senator... Heck, Ventura is an independent Govenor- I hope he nominates a moderate-conservative senator- someone who uses his own brain rather than someone who just tows the party lines in hopes of getting in "good with the party".

I'm sick of party-politics- heres hoping Ventura elects an independant... or at very least a libertarian!

The Republican party is full of brain-dead drones- they don't have the ability to think for themselves- they call themselves conservatives- but there is nothing conservative to me about putting subsidies on everything- putting tarriffs on everything- trying to force your religious and moral values on everyone- and trying to take away freedoms from people and declaring war on everyone...

As for the democrats- they just base their beliefs on the opposite of the republicans- and for that- that just makes them even more brain dead....

In the perfect world all politicians would be independent- basing their legislation on what they (and the people who elected them) believed- NOT on what their party believed.

Pabs and tc, on plane safety, I am also conected to the airline industry, I think you might find these quite funny.

Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints by QANTAS pilots and
the corrective action recorded by mechanics.

By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an
accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except autoland very rough.

Sadly, I can no longer say I am tied to the aerospace industry... as of today!!!!

The division of the company I work for has been split away from the ETO/MTO/MRO section of the company. The software I am working on now- may well be used by some aerospace companies (we plan on getting some of our customers from the parent companies customer list!!! )... but aerospace is no longer one of our primary targets...

did you see the memorial service for Wellstone last night? My god they had 20,000 people show up. It was sickening how a memorial service turned into a political rally to get Mondale elected. It was a joke and they should be ashamed.
