Vitamin B12! Only found in Animal products. NOT ONE KNOWN plant or vegetable produces B12. The only way vegan's can get B12 is through pill form- and you guessed it- most vitamin pills contain trace animal products. Potentially takes years of a vegetarian diet before B12 deficiency kicks in (varies person to person- can start much quicker): Symptoms vary by person but the most common are: mental confusion, diarrehea, tingling in extremities, jaundice, paleness, bad skin, shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, sore mouth and tongue. Some symptoms of B12 deficiency regarding the central nervous system are irreversable. One source: (of many) www.mercola.com/2000/aug/27/vitamin_b12_deficiency.htm

A sad story recently where a young expectant mother was told that fish would be good the child she was carrying. She ate fish 3 times a day. Unfotunately, the unborn child died from mercury poisoning.
Moderation and balance.
They now recommend you don't eat fish whilst pregnant! But indeed- I agree everything in moderation. BTW- who was it who once said: LOL

I was a Vegan for 3 years (after my Mothers death) AND THEN; one night when having a very nice bit of Moroccan Gold there was a programme on TV that said plants feel pain. There is no f-in way to be good in all you do, so it was back on the meat treadmill. Yeh, and I do know about cruelty, my father has a Butchers shop and I worked in Smithfield Markets when I left school. Funnily enough, whilst I was a Vegan , I have never felt fitter and I was playing Semi-Pro football at the time. However it did not have any effect on any violent tendencies I may have had at the time.

I love going out to dinner with veggies and ordering Veal. Personally I think all cows should be raised in a box, they're far tastier that way. ;D I suggest some of you fair climate treehugging granola eating friends of the earth spend some time in the Canadian north, Siberia or Antarctica during Winter and see how long it takes you to wear animal fur or skin and eat meat. Real hunters use the animal they kill, I am against game hunting, killing for the fun of it has no purpose, killing for survival is more than justified. If we were stuck on a mountain with no food and one of you died, I would gladly eat you and your death would not have been in vain.

Well, well....where to begin.... First, humans, as a specie, came up with the idea of slavery...How can anyone be surprised at our collective cruelty towards animals? We can't even treat fellow humans decently... We shouldn't kill cows for their meat? Fuck that!! Montsento kills agricultural workers every day, while spraying them with insecticide. In Mexico city, kids die every day of lung related deseases so big multinational companies don't have to use filter stacks. Then I read M$ is against "animal testing". Fine let's inject him with AIDS vaccine trial number 73453 instead of a mouse. What da fuck As a collective entity, we can not even tolerate peace and respect to ourselves...and you want it applied to animals ? And what is that s*** about animals having the SAME feelings then us? Feelings...maybe...the same ? I don't think so. Cognitive intelligence sets us apart me think...and emotions are directly related to the former... So true, in the best of all world we shoudl all be vegan. But here on earth, in 2003, we might as well still be cannibals. We have more pressing issues as a specie. PS: For the other debate, I was vegetarian for 1 1/2 year. I felt great...I am not saying I wasn't lacking in some nutrients, but I hnnestly didn't feel it. S....

Better yet. I submit that the nastier the death the better the food: 1)Caviar; open the gut of a life pregnant female Beluga, take the eggs, throw the half dead carcass in the water. 2)Lobster: take live lobster, plunge it head first in boiling water. 3)Foie Gras; Take life goose, (literaly) force food down it's throat for 6 month. When liver is atrophied, kill it. 4)Frogs legs: Rip leggs from frogs while still alive. 5)Oyster and a few other: Eat while alive. 6)Thai live crab on BBQ... 7)and so forth... Then there is also the live gold fish in beer...etc... Who's hungry ? I'd Join Henrik for Sashimi about now... S....

Who's hungry ? I'd Join Henrik for Sashimi about now... S.... Anytime, any place!! P.S. I really do have trouble with the foie gras. That has to be one of most cruel ways of producing a delicacy. Still, served with a good Sauterne, who am I to say no....

Wyc: Not even lobster ? No even mixed in a Spagetti al Fruiti di Mare or in a mixed sea food salad? To the best of my knowledge, no. I've had fake lobster- in lobster sandwich spread- but unless lobster was mixed in a soup- or pasta dish and I didn't know it (thought it was crab or something else.) Never had lamb (yup I'm English and never had lamb)- but I have had veal (and it was good)... Ostrich (also good), pheasant, fresh shot bunny-rabbit, duck (this doesn't seem cruel or unusual to me- although someone mentioned it in this thread)... But nothing beats Piggy meat- ham, bacon, Pork- its all good to me... hey that reminds me- you know a Hog farmers favorite game? "Back"-"Gammon"... Yeah I see the coat rack!
