So is this a less than graceful exit to a questionable F1 career for Frentzen? And then there is Nick...what of this little tyke? What's open? Well, there could be that rebadged Jordan/Mercedes. Maybe he's tied to the engine deal. The other word is that JV is definitely out and will be replaced by Sato. The Japanese manufacturer are exacting their weight behind this move. Is this as silly as the silly season gets, or is there a sillier silly season bombshell to drop, making this the silliest silly season of all silly seasons?
(I just love saying "silly season".)

The poster nicked Pump posted this at F1 weeks ago. Props to him.

Is a move to Sauber a really a good one for Fisi? I mean, I don't know - I'm asking. Jordan having Mercedes backed engines should be an improvement (?), but Sauber have really struggled this year with (what seems to be) a poor aero package. What makes Fisi so sure that they are going to be more competitive? Or is this a back way to get into a Ferrari ride (a la Felipe Massa - well kinda ) Any thoughts?

Is a move to Sauber a really a good one for Fisi? I think Fisi took any seat that was open, and he's lucky there was one. Jordan absolutely stink this year. In fact, I'd be surpised if Eddie has the $$'s to field a team next season. Money is tight .... (big) sponsorship money is very rare, and it doesn't go to a team like Jordan. So Fisi did the wise thing and took a ride with Peter, hoping that the affiliation with Ferrari will improve his chances of perhaps one day landing a drive there. As far as Sauber goes, their fabulous wind tunnel won't be operational until long after the 2004 car is unveiled - perhaps they can salvage something later next season. 2005 looks better for them though ..... The biggest teamate showdown of the season next year. The winner will get the Ferrari 2005 seat. My money is on Fisichella by a bit.

I will take Masa over Fisi and don't worry about Eddie, when he first came into F1, he had 90 sponsors. He will be back next year.

I too will take Fisi. He's the most underated driver with the most potential. He's also not about to lose his first and last opportunity to drive for Ferrari. We may even hear that he's not too helpful to Massa while at Sauber...just to keep the edge/advantage. I'll bet the next round on this bet. M3

I'm not sure but I don't think Massa has been officially confirmed yet... Right you are Senninha ... not officially anyhow. from F1-Live: {quote} "Sauber is not having a good season," said Giancarlo. "but it is because of their car, which is not very efficient. Peter Sauber gave me some technical guarantees that were good enough to convince me." Included in these technical guarantees is the new state-of-the-art wind tunnel that will be up and running in March 2004. Ferrari is said to be very interested to use the new facility. On the other hand, Felipe Massa will go back to Sauber next year and the news should be confirmed sometime before the Italian Grand Prix. {enquote} Interesting that perhaps the reason Ferrari are giving Sauber the rights to Massa next season is in exchange for rights to use Sauber's wickedly advanced new tunnel (due to be working in early 2004). Also, as an aside, it's rumoured that Massa's managers have stepped aside, to be replaced by *drum roll* the duo of Jean Todd & son Nicolas *who happens to own the GP2003 site* CFF

I was interested with the Massa not being confirmed thing... I honestly don't believe Peter Sauber really wants him back!! lol! Poor Flippy, so who knows, seems odd they didn't announce both at the same time, that's all...
Apart from that...
About the wind tunnel. It's pretty state of the art, very up to date, very impressive. But Sauber have no money (relatively). So how do they afford it? I was told some time ago that it had been paid for by Volkswagen (I'm sure it was them)... which is a whole new story in itself....
