Its lunch time, here at the OK Corral, so thoughts turn to... What is "comfort food" to you? Generally its that "mom's touch" dish that warms you emotionally as much as it provides nutrition -- mostly questionable as far as what most "comfort food" actually consists of. Things like "Mac and Cheese"-- KD in some circles. Tuna Casserole -- mushroom soop, noodles and a can of flaked albacore -- pure trailer trash. Not that thats a bad thing. Day-old steamed rice with scrambled egg... Cine_...

LOL...
Corned Beef Hash... English style- not American style... to make it English style you caramalise some onion in a frying pan- poor in some baked beans (you can't have an English recipe without baked beans ;D)... add Paprika (and/or chilli powder), and black pepper to taste- and then cube up the corned beef and mix it in beef with the beans et. al.- don't leave the corned in the pan too long though or it gets soggy!
... thats it- can't get more simple- the proportions of each is negligable- depends on how you want it... the whole thing takes 10 mins tops to make!
... VOILA a great British staple is made! And- what happens to be my comfort food! Nothing warms you up quite as well on a cold day- or gives you energy after working in the garden!

Day old steamed rice with scrambled eggs!!
Wow, the brings back a memory! While I was in highschool, I think something like 10th or 11th grade, after a long night out drinking with buddies at our "auberge", I always ended up going to a friends house for a snack before riding home. My friend being Japanese, there was always a rice cooker with rice ready in the kitchen. So, we would scramble some eggs, usually adding a can of peeled tomatoes, and then have that with the rice, and read Japanese mangas.

in my case, there is nothing closer to 'comfort' than feeling that you and the easy chair have become one, no gaps, no temperature differences, and if one wants to get technical, the same smell as well!
Hence, 'comfort' food for me is 'eat till you can't even stand off the chair' food.
fortunatelly I too am the eternaly-in-motion kinda person so and (I suppose I should add this too) am also relatively young, s I havent had to worry like you doods...
hmmmmmmm me hungry

well thanks greg... hmmm can't remember the last time I posted... but it must have been around late Spring... I didn't quite loose my job, I supose I'd still be there in NY doing the same 'nothing', more like I left to Wisconsin, and began studying up here. I have the most stupid job in the world (front desk a..hole) at a hotel, hate it with all my guts but hopefully by the summer will begin working at a hospital... No... not cleaning the floors, much less as a Dr. (jejeje) more like as an interpreter. So really, other than me moving up here, studying, boring my a.. working, boring my a.. when not working, and basically wasting away the little savings that I'd somehow managed to collect in NY... hmmm not much else... just read hearing_aid's post and I sincerelly wish I had something like that to post... but the only news I read/watch are a Colombian newspaper/ and the Daily Show w/ John Stewart... so all I can add to world current news is a very loud Je Je... hmmm anyhow... please, anyone, whomever feels like doing holy deeds after reading this.... I know I ask of it everytime I get up here, but I'm dumb w/ these things and I cannot remember how to post beers ;D ;D ;D, and since as of tuesday I'll be able to lawfully post alcoholic beverages, then... hmmm

Why not- this is the comfort food section afterall... what could be more comforting than to eat naked? Heck- I've posted on the forum whilst naked before (although admittedly- never whilst at work).

first of all 's to all of you... now... don't get no funny ideas OT and Wycco... besides, I've tried eating while naked, and your sense of touch multiplies by 1000x when you feel whatever piece or crumb of whatever you were eating, you then try to find the $#@#@!! (read bothering) crumb and odds are you'll tip the rest of the food on you before, and then, only then you'll realize how not comfortable such-a-way of eating is. Now if you are eating w/ someone (I want to clearly state that I mean someone from the other sex just in case you guys wanna pull something off of this post), well if you're eating w/ someone or off of someone else's nakedness... ;D ;D ;D hmmm now that's some level of comfort I'm willing to put myself through every day!!! cheers y'all

plain sliced bread toasted till light brown and butter. nothing more comforting than that. The fresher the bread, the better; then it is all soft on the inside with a thin crispy crust on the outside and tastes absolutely yum. Toast, coffee with milk and sugar. that's what does it for me.

last post reminds me of a novelty tune that I haven't ever heard but the once. It was a sort of running patter on the virtues of "Just Toast". Not even with butter. The wit was just as dry. Have to try to look that up again. Cine_... Here it is... spiritofradio.ca/Songs.aspGod I love the internet.

Ah yes, "theobromine", the food of the gods... the active ingredient in chocolate which is just one little carboxyl radical short of being an amphetamine.
I suppose its a food.... chocolate wouldn't be out of place classified as a pharmaceutical, though. And its mostly -- actually its vastly -- chosen by women as the 'feel good' substance.
Got some handy, Wycco?
