Wycco, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the F3000 race. Hehe! I was dead chuffed that Kiesa won, but what was Wirdheim playing at. He looked pretty happy on the podium mind, and did say he was the 'moral' winner so was pretty happy, but how stupid??? And Ric was seriously killing me...!!! Oh, and I'm going to post the results for the Renault V6 Race - gimme a min to find them: Looks like Jani had an awful weekend, he'd better get his act together otherwise Melo will be taking the championship from him.

Didnt some fool slow down to wave to the team and got passed and lost the win.? Yup, Wirdheim... I was waiting for JPM to do the same - or rather Kimi should he have been in front of JPM at the end!

Aye TC,
Bjorn Wirdheim... Driving for Arden... What a dumb... DUMB mistake...
I doubt anyone has a serious shot at beating Bjorn for the title this year... I think the only drivers close to Bjorn in skill are Freisacher and Pantano...
Freisacher is out injured... and Pantano has had two unfortunate DNFs- and if his team mate is any measure, a 2nd rate car.
Wirdheim already had a massive lead in the points before Monaco- the other championship competitors have all had poor reliability... Bjorn has finnished every race in P1 or P2... (4 races in F3000 and 4 winners this season).
Sperafico and Pantano battled with each other for almost the entire race for P2... both were entering the race P2 in the championships... Sperafico was majorly holding Pantano up- allowing Wirdheim to get way ahead... Finally Sperafico went wide and let Pantano by. (later turned out Sperafico had tyre problems)... Sperafico hit the pits and went a lap down.
After Sperafico pitted the gap between Wirdheim and Pantano stabilized... I think Pantano may have been ever so slowly winding Wirdheim in.
Meanwhile in P3 and P4... the next most likely championship contenders- Toccy and Liuzi (who looks like the devil BTW) were having a grand battle... Liuzi (sp?) was all over Toccacello for a number of laps... finally he misjudged the distance on the straight and hit the back of Toccacello- causing mass destruction and his car to go flying up in the air, almost over the Armco...
The safety car came out... cutting Wirdheims 20 sec + lead to just a second... But the important thing is- Sperafico on fresh tyres, now a lap down came out JUST behind Pantano- a Kiesa has was way behind was in third just behind the lead cars... Once the safety car went in- Sperafico was all over Pantano- Pantano was blocking like crazy trying not to let Sperafico unlap himself... Wirdheim once again took a hige lead...
Sperafico was being a real ass- and finnally caused Pantano to hit the wall by moving alongside him and causing Pantano to swerve...
Sperafico went on to unlap himself from Wirdheim too- although Wirdheim slowed down to let him by- not wanting to repeat Pantano's mistake.
By this time there was only a few laps left- Wirdheim had a 4 or 5 sec lead... on the last lap he slowed to a crawl to wave to the pit crew- Kiesa came around the corner and snatched the win...
Whats more amazing than Kiesa winning- was Giamarria, Pantano's teammate actually managed a podium finnish... (although in classic style- promptly crashed into the guardrail on his cooldown lap).
No doubt- Wirdheim was the deserved winner... Kiesa would have been 40 secs back if it wern't for the safety car! Still he can't complain- he got 8 points, and none of his main competitors scored ANYTHING!
Pantano drove well- but I doubt he could have got around Wirdheim even if Sperafico wasn't holding him up most of the race.
BTW- Sperafico retired from the race once he unlapped himself... I think he just wanted to prove a point!

BTW... Not meaning to downplay Kiesa...
He drove a solid race, and, he does seem to consistantly out do his teammate...
Because he reminds me of Takagi (Mr. Excitement)- I think he is my favorite driver in the series- great to see him win.
I think he has the same problem as Takagi though- he tries to drive as if his car is better than it is... he pushes the car like crazy when others might hold off.

Kiesa drives like a true FFordster. It's a rarity that drivers with that much talent and drive but mistakes make it past F3, although Massa proved that. To clarify though, neither Massa nor Takagi drive like FFordsters (you can tell they never raced them), but drive like they think they're in FFord! Kiesa is a bit more measured than most, I've been surprised by just how wild he's been this season. Just goes to show by how much the mighty have fallen... RE: Ric - was black flagged rather than retired - for his move on Pantano. I read it was a case of revenge after Pantano was perhaps a tad too agressive earlier on. I wish people would learn that swerving into Brazilians is not advisable, because they like revenge, and it's bound to come back. I also read suggestions that Toccacelo (hey Wyc, my sis calls him Trocadero - there's a cinema in London called that which I kept calling Toccacelo - she thought it was funny at the time cos she didn't even know who he was!) - that he braked too early and Liuzzi had no choice but to hit him. You don't seem to think much of Giammaria but I must say he seems to have been showing a lot of promise this season. He doesn't know the circuits, and has been reasonably close to Pantano from time to time, Imola springs to mind. Remember, he is in his debut season in the formula, and Pantano in his 3rd. Friesacher btw was supposed to be returning for Monaco, but didn't after a last minute decision. Expect him next time out at Nurburgring. Actually, I;m going to look up the championship standings, cos I;m sure they'll be interesting

Depressing more like - Wirdheim's walking it!!!: Aye, with the F3000 season as short as it is- I doubt anyone will come close to Wirdheim this year... and although I think Pantano may be slightly quicker, Wirdheim is consistantly good- Pantano is quick but unreliable- and allowing himself to be rattled by Sperafico like that shows, not too mature. I imagine we'll see Wirdheim in F1 one of these days... btw, Wyc, what did you think of Langhorne? To be honest, I didn't pay him much attention, he wasn't up front- but his first ever F3000 race- Monaco at that, I suppose he didn't do too bad. But I really wasn't watching him... Didn't see Auinger all race- but he had a poor race it appears. Perhaps Austria was a fluke- or perhaps his style doesn't suit Monaco. Re Toccy and Liuzzi... Toccy must have slowed down- you don't get an impact like that when one car is going just a few MPH faster than the other... But the following driver should be watching out for that kind of thing... all in all though- I mark it as a racing incidence... perhaps Liuzzi should have watched the driver infront.. and perhaps Toccy DID brake a little early... All in all- it was just an error- no matter who you blame- neither driver drove poorly- I think its safe to just call it a racing incidence. Van Hoey-Caplooey got a point in Monaco... great to see him back racing again... He's another of those drivers that I think has balls... perhaps not talent- but balls... which always makes for interesting racing! Re: Gianmaria I don't know- I don't think his positions have been too impressive... he has qualified on the back row (if memory serves correctly) all but twice... He was close to Pantano in Imola yes... but Pantano seems to average half the field ahead of GeoMary at most tracks... Perhaps it is because he is new... perhaps he does need to have practice- but in the here and now- I'm not impressed at all! This is my first season watching F3000, I'm not really sure how far back it is standard for a rookie to be... perhaps I'm overly harsh- I'm just trying to call it as I see it! I'll keep an eye out- I guess next year if Geo is still around we'll see how he does! ;D

I was lucky enough to actually be able to attend the F3000 race live! Seeing that Greg was down in Monaco for work, and I had a kart race near Turin, it was decided that I would drive down on Saturday to pick up Greg and then drive back to Turin in the evening. So, I set off at 9 in the morning, for a trip that should not take more than three hours. This would have me on site well in time to catch thr F1 qualies as well. Then the traffic jams started...... I got to Monaco after 4 PM!!!!! So, no qualies, but at least I got the F3000 race. Just to really show off, here are three shots showing the view we had from the balcony:

I was seriously impressed with the view myself. Greg knows how to get hold of the best places in Monaco! It was almost a pity not to stay on for Sunday to watch the F1 race from there, but only almost... My kart race was more fun

WOW!!!! Those are great pics Henrik!!! Looks like a great view!!
Senn, I had a question. What do you mean when you say certain drivers drive like FFordsters? I've never actually followed FFord (and even if I wanted I couldn't) so I don't know what the difference would be in driving style.
