Takagi might get POLE!!!!!
Tora Takagi is letting his speed do his talking this month at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
That’s because his speech, a mixture of English and Japanese offered in a soft voice, is harder to decipher than his 229-mph Indianapolis 500 practice speeds.
But Takagi and his Mo Nunn Racing crew are overcoming the language barrier, helping Takagi turn impressive speeds so far in preparation for Pole Day on May 10. He led the speed chart with a lap of 229.019 mph – the fastest speed of the month – on May 5. He was third fastest on Opening Day.
“I think we have a very strong team right now, and we’re willing to show people that Tora is here and he’s ready,” crew chief Don Lambert said. “We call him Tora The Tiger

Huh? Question: Why is Gil in a G Force and Helio in a Dallara? And if Danny Sullivan can spin and win then Takagi can do much better.

Unfortunately I'm going to be stuck in Atlanta this weekend- I doubt I'll get to see the race... but with Takagi doing so well, this might be one oval race I'd be willing to watch...
C'mon Takagi!!!!!
;D
(Is SpeedVision replaying Indy does anyone know?)

I think i might have to go to pole day and see ol Takagi go for the Pole. Be cool if the great one did well, however, a pole sitter hardly ever wins the INDY500

George: Full field not guaranteed Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Tony George is concerned about not having 33 cars for the 87th Indianapolis 500. But he vowed Friday not to affect the natural process by giving money to teams. Only 28 cars have practiced for qualifications that begin today. Another will join the action next week when driver Jimmy Vasser arrives from Europe. Just one more car, at Team Menard, is believed to have an engine program to go with it. "If we end up with a short field, we end up with a short field," George said. "I don't know that anybody's going to do anything out of the ordinary just to create a full field of 33. "I'm not putting that burden on (the teams, engine manufacturers) or myself." Many veterans in Gasoline Alley expect George to exert his influence next week if teams don't step forward to add cars. "There will be 33 cars, you can count on that," team owner A.J. Foyt said. The 500 has had at least 33 starters every year since 1947. The tradition is based on having one car for every 400 feet of racetrack. The shortage this year is driven by a fragile economy, a change in Indy-car equipment since last year and the country's fixation with NASCAR. George said the 16 current teams "seem committed" to preserving tradition, but he did not elaborate. The only teams seemingly in position to deliver extra cars are the Cheever, Foyt, Penske and Ganassi teams. But Foyt's two drivers have crashed a car each this week. Roger Penske, whose cars have won a record 12 Indy 500s, including the past two, said the car count issue will work itself out next week as qualifications come to an end. "Everyone wants to get qualified and then assess the situation," he said. "We would have to talk to our sponsors and just see." Tickets sales are down too. It is the month of May and the race has not sold out. This Moron Tony "coked up" George doesnt see the big picture. Evenr since he created this stupid IRL, he single handedly butchered open wheel racing in the USA. This fool better wise up, and merge cart and IRL back together or it will get worse. MY god it is a sad day in hell when all racing in america is turning left.

No pole for Takagi, the team sent him out right after AJ Foyt IV and someone else crashed. It was not a very good time to go.

Who saw the big crash of Billy Boat?
He lost it coming out of turn 4, slid all the way down the track and hit the end of the wall that separates the pits from the track with the rear of the car. It flicked out and spun in the air back onto the track, luckily he wasn't injured, a nasty a crash.
