I'm not talking about F1!
The thread is about Jason Watt!
Is there any special safety consideration given for him? I think this is the fourth time I've asked this question!

I've read your previous questions again and they were rather broad.

What does a paraplegic driver do when he crashes and his car bursts into flames?
My question is what special requirements for safety are given for a paraplegic driver?
what special safety requirements are given due to a paraplegic driver competing?
Is there any special safety consideration given for him?
Broad questions eh.

Sure...you never specified you were talking about him. Even then, I still think he doesn't get much leeway.

da silva,
Sorry, but I have not been able to find an answer to your questions, and I have no idea myself.
I'll try to snoop around a bit, as I agree, it is a very interesting question. As Pabs said, the FIA might simply say that the driver needs to be able to get out of the car in 5 secs, as is the case for F1. Maybe I can find something on the Danish Motorsport official site, whatever it might be called.
If I find something, I'll let you know.

Don't know the exact story, but my sister was telling me about this the other day...
On the subject of Jason Watt - she was saying she'd been reading something where he had to do another race (sportscars or something I think - she couldn't remember) where he had to get out the car in 5 seconds or whatever (really fast in other words).. apparently, he worked so hard and managed to find a way so that he could get out the car using his arms in the required time - took him a lot of effort and practice, but he managed it and so they had to allow him to race...
Dunno if that quite answers your question da silva... but I guess we're part way there....
PS - Nice post this one... about a very good guy..

sorry silva, no definative answer on that one. I would assume that extraction procedures would be similar to a driver would is incapacitated and cannot remove himself from said vehicle. I think race organisers would wave the 5secs unaided rule in these cases as it would be descriminatory.
Why not check the FIA website and have a look under rules for the various formulae.

Thanks guys,
It would make sense for some sort of extrication requirement ability from the driver. If Jason has managed to train himself to do it in a required 5s then he is to be commended for his sheer will and perserverance. If anyone gets anything more definitive it would be appreciated.
Thx again.
