"Food Porn"
LOL... I agree it is a "loaded phrase" to cause panic...
BTW- I was in the process of updating my post on the last page... I added comments underneath.

BTW...
What does bug me is people suing fast food places for "getting them" fat.
And the claims that "Fatty food" is addictive.

And the claims that "Fatty food" is addictive. So does the new england journal of med. If this turns out to be a fact, MickeyD is MickeyDead. S.

Calling "Fatty Food" addictive is stretching the definition of the word...
Sure "Fatty Food" tastes good... sure you eat it you want more. But there are no delaterious side effects from stopping (unless you call having to strain slightly to poop delaterious)- and anyone CAN stop eating fatty food at any time- IF THEY WANT TO.
Addictive means- you HAVE to keep consuming the product- not you STRONGLY WANT to.
That New England Journal of Medicine article that came out last month is a result of high-paid researchers HAVING to produce results to justify their pay-checks. It has not been duplicated yet.
Remember when two scientists in the mid 80's claimed to produce Nuclear Fusion with a glass of water and two electrodes? - they WERE respected scientists...

Wyc,
I am not saying they're right. I dunno. You're the biology man.
BUT if they can link fatty food and sugars to the production of dopamine...fast food giants may very well be toasts... And if a memo comes out, stating that they KNEW about it, then they will surely be toast.
I dunno in the states, but here in Can. we're starting to see the effect of all this: according to their commercials, MickeyD has over the last few month introduced vege-burgers, new salads, health-meals etc... Personnaly, I wouldn't know...I don't eat MickeyD. Unlike Ali G, I think Ronald McDonald is a crappy CEO.

I can see the government forcing McDonalds et al. To add a surgeon generals warning: - but the law suits won't fly- and fast food won't be outlawed- even if fat food was prooved to be more addictive than evil pot. [/bait] At least not here in U.S. America- it's part of our culture and the public don't want it gone. The majority of U.S. American's think smoking is bad- that is why it was allowed to be attacked... The US is not ready to screw Ronald from behind just yet. Expect at worst Mcdonalds et al. to give warnings their food will enlarge your belly. We've known for years that alcohol is bad for you- alcohol laws are becoming more and more relaxed as years go by. Why? American culture embrasses fat and alcohol. But we shun tobacco, pot and the like... thus that it was our laws reflect. (personally I prefer "Jack Box" of Jack In The Box to Ronald McDonald as CEO)

Thanks Wycco, I feel much much better!!! I only have (only when in the US!!) the frappucinos in the bottles. Well, its the classic case of "OK" food made bad. The fraps at Starbucks- unless you ask otherwise are made from whole-fat milk (most people stopped using whole milk in their homes in the US a long time ago). If you buy it bottled there is no whipped creme on top- in starbucks there is. The same thing happens with baked potatos. A baked potato at home is healthy- Eat out, and unless you ask otherwise they add: Butter, Sour Cream (full fat sour cream- even though no-fat sour cream tastes exactly the same), bacon, and lots and lots of cheese. A healthy light-meal can become a high calorie monstrosity. This is one reason I think restaurants should be required to provide nutritional information... people substitute fries for baked potatos to be healthy- not knowing the "loaded" baked potato is far-worse for you than the fries. If people were educated- they could make better- "educated" decisions.
