Pop-ups like these I come across regularly on some of the sites I visit from time to time. This particular one, it says, is part of a US Government programme. I have a question though. Is the US really, and I mean really, the place to be nowadays. Jeepers, it's such a big place! I will never get to see all of it, let alone have the time to even work. Anyways, I'm probably just thinking to myself loudly.

I have a question though. Is the US really, and I mean really, the place to be nowadays. Jeepers, it's such a big place! I will never get to see all of it, let alone have the time to even work. The US is a fine place to live... re: seeing it all- I've been here 10 years... so far I've only made it to 11 of the 50 states- but when I win the lottery I plan on buying an RV and touring the whole continent before settling down. Cost of living is fairly low in the US- except for insurance and utility costs. Utility costs for one month is approximately the same as utility costs for a quarter in the UK. Unless you're uber-rich the medical system is backwards and inadequate in the US... and expensive. US doctors are so frightened of being sued- you break your finger they'll x-ray your arse to make sure it's not broke too... and they'll charge you several hundred dollars for the procedure too! To make as much money as possible- doctors cram too many patients into their schedule- an appointment means didley- going to the doctors takes half the day... you'll wait in the waiting room for a couple of hours- then get shuttled to an examination room where you'll wait another 30 minutes. American dentistry is pretty bad too... Don't expect to see your dentist for long- all in the worship of the almighty dollar- a low-paid "dental hygenist" will do your checkup for you- the dentist just pops her head in for a few minutes to make sure the hygenist doesn't screw up. - but for all the negatives there are many positives... The US has a nice climate (most places), land is dirt cheap in most sub-urban areas- so houses usually are on nice sized lots. Most purchased good are cheap (quality and price) so you can afford to own more. Houses are cheap, so people can afford bigger houses. Pay is good- standard of living is 2nd only to Luxembourg. The US has one of the lowest crime rates in the world- the legal system has its faults- but I wouldn't trade it for any other nations. Entertainment is copious- plenty of natural environments left... and some beautifull varied countryside. The US is a great place to live- I give it an "A".

It is very un-even... It's so large it's like diff. countries...
Some places are paradise-like, while others...well...they're more like Alabama !!
New England is great...I love Boston...
But those Paradise Vs. Evil place are sometimes very close: I'd NEVER live in L.A, but I like Frisco a lot...
Then theire is the overseas territories: Hawai, Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq which are all warm places...
Over all, some very nice places with great people...and some dumps with the assholes of the world...
Be picky !!!

Some places are paradise-like, while others...well...they're more like Alabama !! Srrh, In all seriousness- have you been to Alabama? Alabama is one of the most beautifull states in the union. OK- Montgommery is a dump, and I've never been to Mobile... but Huntsville is a nice, clean, modern city and Birmingham is a nice picturesque old city. What amazes me most about alot of the mid-sized towns I've passed through is how clean and classy they are. Florala and Huntsville are two of the most pleasant cities I've ever had the pleasure of driving through. But the best part of Alabama is the countryside... The Alabama logo really does hold true... "Alabama The Beautifull".

In all seriousness- have you been to Alabama? Yes Siry-bob. But it didn't take that much courage: I'm white ;D I have visited it. More then once. Last year, I was there again with Srrhgf, visiting their NASA center. I went to Huntsville once, pass right through...as I boycott anyplace where the main production is corpse. That place is the death penalty kingdom. S.

it didn't take that much courage: I'm white ;D Ahhh your usual, the South is racist card. Alabama is proud of the fact that the civil rights movement started there! There are a lot of minorities throughout the South! This is very much the case in Alabama. I think you would be surprised that Alabama is not as racist as the sterotype they receive. The South isn't the hotbed of racism in the US anymore- that honour belongs to such areas as the bread belt and the mid-west. I boycott anyplace where the main production is corpse. That place is the death penalty kingdom. Purely a political decision that doesn't reflect quality of life. ... well as long as you're not murdering people that is!

Alabama is proud of the fact that the civil rights movement started there And for many, it ended there too. I profoundly dislike the bible belt, BUT I must admit people are incredibly polite there... No really, I think my favorite US state is Israel S.

Purely a political decision that doesn't reflect quality of life. You're right. My decision is all about quality of death. S.

I lived in Alabama for a year. In fact, I graduated from High School in Montgomery. To this day, I'm still a big fan of Auburn University in College Football and I can confirm that Montgmery is a dump and Mobile is even a bigger dump.
The rest of the state is God's land, except for the rednecks

Mobile is worse than Montgommery?
Thank God I never went to Mobile then!

The rest of the state is God's land, except for the rednecks If I had said that, Wycco would have jumped me. So I am glad YOU did ! I think New-York would be a nice place to live...very multi-ethnic...mosaic style, not melting pot... PS To Wycco: Actually I am much more anti-Sharon then anything else...And I find agnostic Israelites loads of fun....I'd love to visit Israel...one day...in the future...

Its just the South = Racist stereotype I dislike. True. There are some very open minded Klansmen. Srrh PS I am obviously pulling your leg... There are probably/maybe no more racist biggot in the south then anywhere else nowadays...BUT, most historical/institutional racism can be seen in the south...Almost every town/village in the south has some sort of "relic" form that "not so far away past". From a lyching tree to an "Arian center"... In Pulaski, Ten., there are still "KKK days" where fucking asswipes from the entire country come to celebrate some sort of morronic anniversary... About TC: Sure, but that is because his sister, errr, I mean cousin. no, girlfriend, has a positive affect on the man. S.
