Senninha,
When I say it is banned that is rather a harsh term. I try to explain why I dont like them to drink it. I try to explain everything to them rather than just tell them No or YES. Its like walking a tight-rope. For the most part they listen to me. I try to word it so that they have a choice on the matter. There are however times when you do need to say NO, no negociation. For example I want to drink battery acid. You could be Lasse Faire and say OK you'll learn by the experience but I draw the line on that and its a straight out NO.
I try to employ the same tactics on my kids that my parents used on me. Basically my parents used to say "your call", Ive given you advice now use it. For the most part it worked on me.
My wife had a lot stricter upbringing and it backfired during her teens and 20's. Man I dont know how she survived. Having said that, I now think she is the perfect mum as no shit gets past her as shes been there done that. Nadine will come into her own when the kids are into their teens.

PS You have just had a lesson on parenting 101.
